Arkadaşım Eşek (Barış Manço Cover)

Demans (Dementia in English) was founded in 2008 by Nurettin Mert Aydin and Serdar Mumcu in Ankara, Turkey.

The duo started constructing and recording their tracks in 2009 after consolidating their knowledge in music while being molded in this digital and virtual world with the sounds coming to their ears and minds.

In 2010, they gathered 12 of their recordings that they thought each one is related to others in some way under an album called "lobotomi" (lobotomy in English). The primary objective of the band is to gather music lovers that would love their tunes and lyrics and to work with professionals who would be interested in their work.

The duo came up with many covers in various bands they set up with their friends and composed their tracks along with lyrics. 

The band is currently making electronically-dense alternative rock music.

The word "Demans" (Dementia in English) means "one losing his / her mind" in Latin [dementia: de (from) + ment (mind) -ia (suffix used to indicate pathological state)].

The word was first used in 13th century in Anatolia, by a local doctor Bartholomeus Anglucus who lived around Urgup - Goreme (Cappadocia, Turkey). However, in neuropsychiatry, it is accepted that the word was used by Pinel in a scientific fashion and it is said that the word was translated to English in 19th century. (Lipowski, 1975).
