On July 15, 2022, Anetha will release her second seismic
compilation on her label Mama told ya entitled MTY-TERRE
«Contre tout, toutes et tous, la terre demeure», just one year
after MTY-EAU «L’eau repousse les feux agressifs».

Through earth element, the compilation comes up with the
collaboration of 19 artists - 19 tracks, divided into 4 vinyls: Ane-
tha has brought together a generation of young electronic
music artists from around the world to get their hands dirty
and produce some solid gems.

Medulla Oblongata is a discreet yet emerging Dj who blossoms in his musical biotope between ambient and a mental and hypnotic techno. His techno sets are an invitation to an immersive journey where dancers can forget themselves. We could see him working lately with the Château Perché Festival and their secret and uncompromising side projects and mixing at KALT Club (Strasbourg, Fr) where he can express himself without boundaries.

With other weirdos he also co-founded the collective TRÊVE gathering artists from different horizons around ambient and visual arts in order to propose dreamlike and contemplative events. His ambient sets become hybridized with tape samples, droning machine loops and synthesizers.

"Machines will fail us" : those are the unsettling first
words of this much expected new episode of the Polar
Inertia odyssey. Starting with this ode to machinery, the
tale plunges suddenly in a stark apocalyptic scenario.
Along the 3:14' of the track "Kinematic Optics", this
mysterious “polar inertia” eventually begins to
materialize and reveal more its true essence.
Same might be said about this double EP, consisting of
almost 80 minutes of music. First record is a black vinyl
with the actual four pieces of the "episode". Second one
is a white vinyl with the entire recording of their live
"Can We See Well Enough To Move On", that had been
given just once, in May 2014, for the closing of their
expo in Brussels, at the project space/ gallery Abilene.
Again this illustrates Polar Inertia’s will to be seen as an unidentified entity, where many participants contribute to
the evolution of the Project : the expo in Brussels last year was indeed a collective effort, and the live you’re listening
to was given from a considerable distance, with streaming, to an audience that didn’t see the performers from where
they stood.
The four tracks of the first record convey the same feeling ; of music that seems to be composed as a soundtrack
for oblivion, and disappearance of individuals. Polar Inertia’s techno is made with a very specific intent : taking the
time to accurately tell a story, bring specific emotions, narrative noises and illustrations, integrating all elements in a
contention between darkness and light, between a tale of Earth destroyed by nuclear weapons, and the blinding
white-out of the Polar Children’s wizardry.
We’ve been asked a lot of questions lately about
Polar Inertia ; their mysterious posture has stirred
up an unusual curiosity… but if you really want to
know more about PI, well, listen closely to these
two records, for a lot of the answers lie in the
music.

Luigi Tozzi is a young Roman artist just twenty-three years old but with a profound musical knowledge. His productions reflect the distinct musical style coming from the Italian capital, a style purveyed by artists now considered icons within the international techno scene. It’s the direct link to this sound that aligns Luigi’s music perfectly with the musical realm of Outis Music. The EP’s opening and title track “Calipso” is dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea “Calypso”, elegantly adding subtly trance-like traits to a classic 4/4 beat. Next piece “Ambrosia” finishes the first side with a deep, sophisticated and refined device dedicated to the Ocean God. Devotion to the return to home is the theme of the following cut “Nostos”, a substantial tool that’s hypnotic and encapsulating. On the EP’s final piece “Nostos (Dino Sabatini Version)”, label founder Dino Sabatini provides a different point of view on Luigi’s original in his own classic and unmistakable style.

Back at our mammoth Stay True Scotland broadcast earlier this month, one track came real close to bringing The Caves' roof down during Nina Kraviz's powerhouse headline set. "I Wanna Go Bang" very nearly executed its titular statement – well, if the song was more about wrecking balls and less about...oh, never mind.

The vocals that stalk the track, so wholly devoid of humanity, rub up against razor-sharp claps and serious bounce in the subs. It's weighty warehouse techno of the highest order, set to devastate dark basements and big tents alike throughout the year. Simply put: Icelandic producer Bjarki has delivered a bomb.

In Aeternam Vale is an electronics fanatic who has experimented continually with the analogical synths and old rhythm boxes in his collection. To this day his music remains incredibly powerful, cold and caustic and takes cues from punk rock nihilism and aggression. He was in a band back in the eighties but also was inspired by Kraftwerk and conjured up his own inhuman musical universe with haunting singing front and centre. His nightmarish atmospheres also come with a sense of satire and humour and though confrontational in nature, are hugely rewarding. His visceral relationship with music has played out with releases on Minimal Wave and went on to take in trance-techno, ambient and even house in recent decades. Opening up is ‘La Plage’, with vulnerable vocals lost in a mix of jittery drums and hits that are innocent yet powerful. It’s a brilliantly unusual sound that is both danceable yet emotional. The stiff and coarse ‘Bathroom’ has deadpan vocals and flat footed drums. The edginess of the voice is offset by a more playful melody and the whole thing prowls at a slow and predatory pace. From there, ‘Rattlesnake’ rides rough on a corrugated bassline as metallic hits light up the groove like a strobe. Mangled vocals add a layer of grime and eeriness while the drums work you into a slow motion dance that will send clubs wild. Last of all, ‘The Missionary’ is the most industrial and brutalist of the lot, with gauzy textures, drilling bass and dystopian moods all finished with a voice that is refracted around the mix. This is utterly thrilling and fresh sounding electronic music that is truly timeless.
