This song was played at a show we did in 1996, one of the first for DSP. We later changed it up with a guitar calling it "cool fuse" on the cycling infinity album.

Pray-2022

Out take of a track we recorded in 1998. Live scratches and record fx ran through a experimental process :gating: All audio recorded and seq in a power mac 7100 running studio visions. Never played this one out live.

1 Million Loops - 98 MASTER

One of the last productions done by DSP. There are five versions of this track. Steve's guitar work inspired several remixes.

DSP- All Nite - Ambo Mix 200?

This track is another one from the vault. Features both of us (chris and steve) on the guitars and bass. Trumpet parts played by steve and drums programed from the ground up (studio visions). Mixed on a mackie 16 channel and then recorded down to dat tape. 

DSP - Can't Touch That 2000

Rolling back the clock to 1995. Sunday summer jams with steve soper. In a time before computers we wrote this track using a Korg X3 workstaion that drove a few synths (juno 106 arp)and a sampler (dj-70) recorded from a 16 channel mixer down to dat tape with live guitar added on top. Vocal snippets were sampled from friends voices. Fabi and emily.

This track was taken from DSP's  full length album "cycling infinity" It features steve on the guitar and trumpet. Chris on bass and automated mixing duties. This track was also played out live several times because we had a lot of fun playing it! 

People Have Visions-1999

Sometimes you just need to escape. Music is a great source to explore that with. This features all of the untitled possibilities available in one setting. All live parts expect the drums loop that was cut up. Spaced out vocoded vocals and guitar chords laced with bass. Captured by power mac

BLISS - 2001

This is another version of dark and free. A track that evolved over time and ending up on the album as a finish song. We had just discovered the glory of programming in studio vision on a power mac 7100 and left the X3 workstation behind .It was all midi at first so we recored through a mixer/effects after doing the mix with all the gear seq from the computer and played along live parts while recording down to DAT. Eventually sound cards came along and changed this process. 

Dark&free 97

Taken from the album "cycling infinity" this track showcases steve's guitar and trumpet. He had these two groovy licks that I chased with a bass guitar and then layer a leed on the juno and synths. Infact there's like 2 synth leed and a guitar leed and a trumpet leed! We should have called it "constructing a LEED in a bottle" lol. Slowed down breaks cut up in a dj-70 . Looped and layered with a drum kit then seq in studio visions completes the process ( all midi ). We played this track out live at all the shows and had a real fun time doing so.

We had this idea for a long 3min intro to this song. It started with a sustained whole note from the emu orbit 9090 and a arp patterned. Laced with a live violin (chris)we modulated and filter swept it into a triphop break. Bass guitar and electric lead follow a groove that leads into steve's vocals"l don't care at all". A reflection of our youth and the busy city around us are captured in this performance and of course bird sounds! Also featured some jazzy one off organ chords (steve) and a closing vocal " Don't you wana know, I'm so lost inside" We took this song to the stage with our local live tour 1998-1999 (SF)

DSP is Chris Demetras, steve soper and jason hunt. Produced first and only album "cycling infintty" written and produced by chris demetras and steve soper in "huccini lab SF" 1999.
Dsp had a unique infusion of live instrument and dj style. Playing the mixer and turntable. Dsp played the elctronic club circuit in SF including such clubs as "111minna", DNA lounge", 330 RICH, 1015 FOLSOM. Their extreme shows were complimented by visual effects and lighting provided by Janus and Rob.
DSP's "breaking fields" on their debut album "cycling infinty" was used by Local new channel 5 as back ground track during an interview.
