'Tell Me About The World' is Demsky's forthcoming EP. Inspired by Sebastian Junger's book 'Tribe', the EP was made with the intentions of open interpretation. In a world that seems so divided as of late, we could spare a little bit of time relearning the lost art of listening so that our community can once again thrive off of compassion and heart. I think we can all interpret tracks in a different way. Demsky is looking forward to hearing your take on it.

Demsky, a Canadian beatmaker now hailing in Tokyo. He has quickly gained momentum as an ambient, downtempo beatmaker from his immersive sets throughout Japan, and Europe. Now residing in Tokyo, Toronto-born Demsky takes a lot of his inspiration from the chill instrumental, beat-making, noise music scenes that he’s heavily involved in. He has graced the stage at such festivals as Asagiri Jam (Japan), Zizkovska Noc (Czechia), Tone River Jam (Japan), Come Together Music Festival (Canada), and has played countless tours throughout Europe, Japan and Canada. His music has been featured in various programs such as the Docuseries Descending, and works with numerous YouTubers including Ramen Adventures.

The ambient and weaving formations of the layers in each of Demsky's tracks are representations of the elements of the environment around us, each more beautiful than the next especially when they interlace. The rawness and unpredictability of the sounds is to show that nothing is ever the same twice, which Demsky translates in live sets.

I've always loved the concept of albums. Tracks that act like chapters to feed one storyline. These tracks however are like short stories that can support themselves and still leave you questioning things in the end.

"As Your Heart Beats'' consists of 6 tracks covering different parts and aspects of our world including our own psyche. While on tour throughout Europe, Asia and Canada, I was able to talk to a lot of locals about what they love, fear, aspirations, and heavy matters that affect our society today. While certain issues run rampant and are more prolific in certain areas of this world, others can be completely oblivious to them. People face concerns that can only be shaped in certain societies. I wanted to create an album that makes us more curious and aware of what others face. As Your Heart Beats came about when I was listening to a podcast on an Alan Watts lecture during my tour in Poland.

He stated...
"It happens as your heart beats.
You don't do anything about it.
You don't force it to beat.
It does it by itself.
To be so of itself
The more Liberty, love, the more order you'll have."

Ukraine just got tragically hit for the first time when I was there. I watched my Polish friends immediately run to the aid of their neighbour. Within a day, the streets were covered in Ukrainian flags showing their undying support for them. It was a beautiful yet somber experience. A few days later, I flew back to Japan. While they were obviously very concerned with the situation in Ukraine, the country was battling the pandemic completely unmindful of what Poland was going through. This album is just about being fully aware of what is and it all happens as your heart beats.

I wrote this just after the big Earthquake hit Japan. We we're still receiving big aftershocks, I had friends living close to the affected area and I was just getting really tired of it all. This is not really a song but just a dark ball of energy being transferred through me during this time. 

The undeniable love and perseverance of the Japanese people is unmatchable. I will continue my efforts to help and hopefully you can do the same to anyone who needs it :)

Unsong Hero

I took a trip across Canada by train. It is something I highly recommend to any traveler. It takes you on an unique trip across our massive Country. The biggest portion of this journey was through my own province of Ontario. It was late at night and I was staring outside my window. I was about 18 hours into my trip. I just left my family and friends for a good 2 years and was excited on not knowing what my future has in store for me. I kinda like not knowing what's next and figuring it out as it happens. 
I remember at one point just looking outside into the night and seeing a beautiful lake. The water looked like a huge mirror reflecting the sky above. Right beside it was a little cottage where someone lived. You cannot reach this cabin by car and there was no town close by. The train made a special stop for someone who was actually getting off at this cabin. I was thinking, 'They must live such a peaceful life being surrounded by beauty and wonder'. I wrote this beat shortly after still having that cabin in Northern Ontario on my mind and the people that live in it.

I have worked with some amazing people in my lifetime and this is a tribute to them. They are the ones that have helped me grow in ways I never could have imagined. It's amazing how we can flourish and progress by just listening to each other with an open mind and stepping back to get a glimpse into ourselves.

私は素晴らしい人と沢山巡り合い、素敵な仲間に囲まれています。私の音楽はその素敵な皆に捧げます。皆のおかげで私は想像以上に成長できました。大切な人と話し合って気持ちを理解し合うことによって人間はこれほど前進できることには、私はいつも感動しています。

Bounce of a Ball – Having had the opportunity to travel to Japan in 2008, Demsky knows it is hard for people to adapt to a culture that they are not used to. This song is a tribute to the great times and fun you can have by exploring areas you never thought you’d be in. The greatest learning experiences happen when you have the capacity to accept and enjoy the surroundings you find yourself wandering in.

Wrote this during the pandemic. 
It has been a great time to slow down, reflect, and create great things that are important in our lives. This track is just about that. We all have those moments where we immerse ourselves so deeply into something we love that we tend to forget about the things surrounding us. In my case, it was my coffee :)
