From starting out promoting club nights in the UK, Luke Standing has been devoted to underground electronic music.
His first records under the names Furesshu and Esoteric experimented with swung and atmospheric techno before he resettled in Germany and launched his resolutely independent project Blue Hour in late 2013. Since then, Standing has released pivotal records with a distinctive sound driven by the spirit and energy of the '90s, and in turn, been welcomed into some of the most respected venues across the globe. Fuelled by his obsession with the early days of dance music, when genres like trance, jungle, and IDM overlapped, his DJ sets explore a narrative of timeless music, blurring the lines between geography and scene, space and time. Beyond the platform originally started for his own productions, Blue Hour has since begun extending his reach towards other artists and releasing music from Dold
and Alpha Tracks as well as his collaborative project as Tracing Xircles. An acclaimed Remixed series has also seen artists like Steffi, Pangaea and Answer Code Request re-working his music. There is no doubt that Blue Hour has become part of the techno world, but Standing stands clearly apart within it.

Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series we present: Vincent Neumann

Avid music collector, label owner & DJ, Vincent Neumann has gathered a loyal underground following by word of mouth, with consistently brilliant closing sets and long patient vinyl orientated mixing. Born, raised and currently residing in Leipzig, Vincent Neumann works as a psychotherapist during the day and as a DJ by night. As one of the residents of Leipzig’s Distillery since 2012, he happily gets to share his passion for dance music regularly. Next to this he also runs the Leipzig based label Unitas Multiplex. The vibes during his DJ-sets are often described as energetic, fast, enthusiastic and sometimes even relentless, without ever sacrificing taste or quality. For him, authenticity will always stand above fame, and if you witness one of his 10-hour closing sets you will understand what the fuss is about.

About the mix:
This mix focusses on what Vincent enjoys very much at the moment. Older stuff like Stanny Franssen paired with unreleased joints. This created a dance mix you can also listen to at home or just enjoy while cycling around.

HER 他 Transmission 036: Ne/Re/A

For us is an honor to guest one of the masters for us a huge artist we have only respect and admiration towards him. From Tilburg, Netherlands, comes DRVG CVLTVRE! Owner of the mighty legendary label NEW YORK HAUNTED, the recent label where our resident No Intellectual Property released back in November. He is a prolific producer and well respected artist in the global scene. 
He has released in labels such as: VIEWLEXX, PINKMAN, NEW YORK HAUNTED, PERMANENT VACATION, SHIPWREC, RZONE, RAVE OR DIE, M>O>S>, NERVOUS, WARP and much more! Since 2009, Vincent Koreman a.k.a. Drvg Cvltvre has been working on his own blend of dystopian acid, no wave and experimental house. Koreman is a highly productive producer, offering many of his new tracks for free download on his soundcloud page before they get released by labels. Respected in the international underground for his groundbreaking work in experimental techno as RA-X in the 90′s on labels like Bunker and KK Records, Koreman comes from a DIY punk background, opting for hard work rather than hollow pose.
Drvg Cvltvre’s tracks take the speed down a notch to emphasis on the heavy-ness of sound and using the space left between the pounding kicks to build melancholic melodies that seem to grow out of orevaporate into thin air. A blend of dark techno and deep house with lots of experiment, influenced in equal parts by Suicide, Sun Ra and Terrence Dixon.

'This is 74 minutes of music, mixed and recorded in my home and played on two turntables.
For the past couple of years, I have been learning vinyl mixing, and I’m beginning to feel a level of control and understanding that makes me feel comfortable sharing my efforts.
One thing that I’m consciously aware of when selecting and mixing, is to find the right balance between the repetitive and monotonous aspect of the music on one hand, and the wide variety in the different expressions and aesthetics of techno music on the other. If there is too little variation, it gets boring, and if there is too much variation, it loses that hypnotic drive that is most important for me. I often find it useful to think of DJ sets as narratives. As story-telling. You want things to happen, you know? You want to go to different places and experience different sensations. Suspense, drama, relief, emotions – things like that.

Another thing that I consider key to developing my practice is learning to do proper transitions. Long smooth blends, quick cuts, all of that - I want to learn to mix in all those ways, so I can put the right technique to use when it’s needed. I like when an artist is consciously
manoeuvering between different ways of mixing – it makes it more exciting and less predictable to listen to.

Then there is the aspect of timing. Oh, timing is everything! Part of the timing thing is sort of intuitive, but a big part of it is about getting to know your tracks, memorizing them. This is a challenge for any DJ, but particularly for vinyl DJs, since there is no waveform representation of the track to guide you, no cue points, etc. Just to point this out – I’m not saying that I am particularly good at any of the above-mentioned aspects of DJing – in fact, I’m a total amateur – but these are some of the things that I’m trying to develop and improve in my work.
