Having recently celebrated its second birthday with the release of ‘100% Continental’, a best-of mix conceived by its A&R/DJ Jerry Bouthier, Continental records now stops off in Japan for Boys Get Hurt’s new EP: ‘Your Love’ featuring Cinema Citizen.

Already noticed for his remixes (Reflex, Chela, Autokratz, DCUP, Pherotone…) and with several releases under his belt (including a track on the ‘Bonjour Colette’ compilation), Tokyo-based Yuki Abe AKA producer/DJ Boys Get Hurt gets his inspiration from the melancholic feelings the end of summer inevitably brings about, a personal and evocative sensibility in tune with the land of the rising sun’s delicate culture. Yuki expertly crafts bouncy disco-house music with sprinklings of electronica, indie, ambient, hip-hop and R&B – perfect 2014 pop to our ears.

On ‘Your Love’, a meaningful song to practice your best dance moves to, he has teamed up with male vocalist Cinema Citizen - Nobuki Akiyama, borrowed to band Ykiki Beat - for a boyish declaration of love in all its teenage glory.  Dutch rising star NSFW gives it a slick makeover with a deeper twist, whilst French hopeful Avantime takes a slightly more introspective route. Let’s not forget the sublime B-side ‘Sea Through’, a tantalizing, hypnotic disco merry-go-round which shows the prolific Boys Get Hurt is far from being a one-trick pony.

So who is this Glamour Hammer guy from Sweden?
Oh, Glamour Hammer … you had us at the name!  Just as some cocktails are simply begging to be made, the Hammer first landed somewhere between breezy white soul, 80’s arena rock and spacey house music. Check out last year’s “Stay With Me” if you don’t believe us. Soon after he came up with “Really Over”, a pure pop pumper that effortlessly soundtracks a post-breakup, road-trip mood. Stick in the tape player and kick off that devil-may-care montage sequence… Turns out this was the second part of a love song trilogy from Glamour Hammer. This is deft soft-rock at its most heartfelt and we can’t wait to hear how the story ends. ‘Is It True?’ is a somehow a lost Motown hook arriving on a shimmering slice of 80s dance pop, all topped off with a lyrical appearance by ‘anti-testosterone rapper’ Toni Sauna. And if you want to go deeper, get your feet moving to YUKSEK’s remix!
