James Last is a German big band leader, composer and musician. Even though the man has sold over 70 million records and recorded more than 150 albums, chances are you've never heard of him. In 1971 he recorded the album Voodoo Party featuring a Kraut Funk cover of Marvin Gaye's classic "Inner City Blues". Choir-style airy vocals glide alongside a funky jazzy groove. It's easy to be critical of anyone attempting to cover such a classic, but Last's rendition doesn't disappoint. Give it a spin! Many thanks to the American Athlete Blog for the inspiration.

We had the pleasure to remix this fabulous track singed by Pat Appleton (De-Phazz, Bahama Soul Club, one of the most wonderful voices of the contemporary jazz scene) taken from the new Bahama Soul Club's album "Bossa Nova Just Smells Funky".

The original track, with its magic lyrics, immediately put us in a spy-John Barry mode. We decided to treat it like it was the (opening)title trackfrom the imaginary Motion Picture "Tangossa".
Pat Appleton became our Shirley Bassey and we tried to give that melancholic/007 touch we like to the original version, playing our brass lines, Rhodes pianos, and guitar+harpsychord themes.
We would like to thanks Oliver Belz (the brains behind BSC) always ready to give us some great advises that hits every time! We are very glad and proud of this bright collaboration.
