On the 1st of May, lying lifeless on her apartment floor with a pair of scissor stabbed in her throat was a young woman who went by the name of Decontee Fairly. After a short investigation, Investigators found that Decontee had been murdered by her jealous boyfriend who believed she had been cheating on him. As of today this young man is still on the run.

This is one of many cases that continue to flood the office of the police department in Monrovia Liberia as domestic violence stands at a 77 percent rate. According to the World Health Organization (who) 33 percent of married women in Liberia have reported experiencing domestic violence. Up to 77 percent of Liberian women say they have been the victim of sexual violence. Human rights groups say it is likely these numbers are even higher, as many of the cases go unreported.

As the government does their part in bringing justices to victims and sentencing violators,Local artists who believe their music is powerful enough to lower the rate of domestic violence are helping advocate.
