Since its inception in 2013, Mawimbi founders have been expanding their knowledge of lesser known and rather undiscovered musical territories thanks to chance encounters with likeminded DJs/producers, who were kind enough to put them onto a good amount of under-the-radar tropical gems.

Launched in 2017 and named after Mawimbi's bi-monthly radio show on Rinse France, the "Radio Mawimbi" compilation series is dedicated to unearthing vintage tropical gems in the form of free download edits and remixes by some of the most seasoned diggers and promising rookies of the tropical-enthusiast community!

From deep, drum-heavy workouts to essential Guinea Bissau melancholy, through remixed Beninese afrofunk and vintage South African kwaito, this second installment features the editing and remixing works of Yeahman (Frente Bolivarista), LSD (Love Saves The Day), Déni Shain (ATANGANA Records), Umoja, Mawimbi, ATW (Around The World), Calisto, Turbo Boom-Boom (TBB) and Midnight Ravers.

DENI SHAIN BIOGRAPHIE
Deni Shain is DJ, producer and percussionist. After having travelled the world for almost 20
years searching for new music and artists, he discovered along the way a stash of rare musical
pearls - in Europe, Africa and Latin America - music which he shares with us to enjoy in his
energetic DJ sets.
Today, he broadcasts his remixes and musical adaptations in parties, festivals and clubs
around the globe.
For 6 years, he worked in close collaboration with the label Analog Africa (Frankfurt). He
compiled Space Echo and POP MAKOSSA, which were both very well receieved by DJs and
music lovers globally. It was these two compilations that recently helped him to be spotted
and interviewed by Gilles Peterson for his Worldwide FM show.
Having played in major European and international clubs such as Lux Fragil (Lisbon),
Hinterhof (Basel), House of the People (Brussels), Trackers (Sao Paulo), Deni Shain has also
played in lots of festivals including: Les Docks des Suds (France), Recbeat Festival (Brazil),
Zapata Vive (Mexico), Goulash Disco (Croatia), Pete the Monky (France), Suds d'Arles
(France), and Juicy Beats (Germany).
In 2015, he was invited to Recife's WOMEX to give a lecture on "the art of bringing back
the Afro-Caribbean music of the 1970s" and to present and share his approach and remixing
technique.
After opening and running a cultural center in Mexico for four consecutive years (where he
produced 240 artists in all disciplines) he decided to return to France. On his return, he
established his base in Marseille and now organises his own evenings called "Tropical
Clubbing."
Currently, he is working on launching his own label "Atangana Records". The label (which is
going to launch in 2018) will mainly focus on current Afro Caribbean music, as well as
younger up and coming talent.
Deni Shain is a real "Tropicalist" combining sounds from African, Brazilian, Latin, Soul,
Reggae and more Electronic beats. He invites you to come with him on his journey into
sound which has only one aim : to make you dance, and as much as possible !!!
