Exclusive Drown ft. Anna Caragnano - Sea On The Moon (The Drifter Remix)

Widely known under Alessio Pagliaroli the Italian-based artists readies a darker and more experimental release under his Drown alias on Milan label and movement Just This. Sea On The Moon is the name of Alessio's return and comes with altogether three takes, the original and a club version from his side as well as a remix from Maeve label-head The Drifter. The latter ups the tempo of the original track and omits the vocal to fully focus on the track's sound-design. Slight congas add warmth to the pad-shaped and cosmic charming approach, which Mark, The Drifter's real name, created. It's safe to say that the arrangement of melodies and sounds have no equal as they follow the pattern of a clear order, sound after sound, step by step. Still emotions are not lost in-between but rather accentuated hence Mark's procedure and turn his approach to a fluent matter told in an impressive fashion.

Drown's EP Sea On The Moon will be released on Just This on March 27th, 2020.

The World, as we know it, has changed. A routine rethought has allowed time to create. With borders closed and friends isolated from one another, our ‘40 Days In Quarantine’ series has invited artists to connect us all together once more via the power of music, as we live out this surreal and dystopian period. 

Borders Of Light’s boss, Toto Chiavetta, delivers our first installment - three tracks characterizing and capturing the varying emotions felt whilst confined by himself in Italy. It touches against the chaotic, the calm and the positive - emotions we have all been battling with over the past weeks. It shows the testament of the human mind and the strength and emotions we have all been experiencing. 

Suheir Hammad - What I Will (Toto Chiavetta Liaisons Dangereuses - 326 Michigan Ave Edition): A nostalgic battlecry

Polishing off the release is a penned tribute to two of Toto’s inspirations - Ron Hardy and Liaisons Dangereuses. Hardy was one of the purveyors of house music in Chicago in the 80s, and as a resident at The Music Box (address 326 Michigan Avenue) in the city, he would often play music from the equally innovative and unconventional German band. 

‘What I Will’ combines elements regularly expressed by both artists with a poem spoken by Suheir Hammad placed on top. The words are a feisty piece of art - a battlecry of rebelling against what’s considered the societal norm of thinking. In the background, bright harmonic chords beam through to form the uplifting groove, as raw hi-hats daze in for a classic disco structure: an element quintessential to and continually showcased in early house music. Coming to its peak, the line ‘I will dance and resist’ are looped repeatedly - highlighting a strengthed state of mind. Nearing the end, industrial-sounding elements inspired by Liaisons Dangereuses take their place for a punchier approach.

Seamlessly blending together a sense of tact with soulful sentimentality, driven by the powerful words of Hammad, ‘What I Will’ is a vigorous reminder of our own fighting spirit, and that we are stronger than we know right now.

Having already released two highly respected and well received VA's, @furcoatmusic's @oddityrecordings returns with "Odd Echoes Vol.3". The most comprehensive offering to date, the VA features twenty original tracks from artists already synonymous with the label, as well as some new and exciting talent.

Fur Coat's continued dedication to their label has resulted in a rapidly growing catalogue of anticipated releases. By focussing on unearthing emerging artists within the scene whilst putting forward their own sound and that of established figures, the imprint has continued to go from strength to strength.

Throughout the package, we are greeted with what we have come to know and love from Oddity. Twenty original tracks, mostly from first timers on the label, which span a real breath of melodic techno sounds. It seems that each artist involved has developed their own signature sound and the VA is compiled in a way that really takes you on a journey. In the earlier stages artists highlight a more down tempo and reserved sound easing us into the work. Approaching the mid section of the release we start to see the artists focusing on tracks that are more driving, with a faster pace, clearly aimed for club use.

Rounding off the VA, tracks are characterised with faster beats, atmospheric builds and enlightening moments to create records that any dance floor will be hungry for. All in all its an impressive VA, both in the size of the contributions, but also in the array of sounds explored by all involved.

'Scatcity are renowned for producing serious melodic collections and their tenth release certainly doesn’t disappoint as Spanish producer Yamil offers up his Woodhouse EP. Label head Skatman also makes an appearance alongside Ivory, both of which on remix duty.

The title track welcomes you in, carried by deep rumbling drums than roll along as foundations to warming pad swells and echoing toplines. ‘Running Over Me’ follows, lowering the tempo with an ethereal vocal that grips you from the off, building as a concoction of stunning synths and marching percussion.

Skatman offers up a darker take with dominating reverb soaked synths darting over a pulsating bed of kicks and bass. Ivory then closes the show with rich chords jittering around a more minimalistic vocal offering.'
