Sweden’s favourite house label Local Talk return with a new LP compiled by one of the imprints most beloved artists Crackazat, and he has been given special permission remix and rework a selection of label's back catalogue for their edit's series.

Previous artists who have compiled a reworks album for the series include HNNY, Jacques Renault plus Kyodai, and this is perhaps one of the best yet.

Ben Jacobs better known to music fans as Crackazat, is a young talent originally from Bristol in the UK. Early in his career he was the official warm up act for Floating Points and he shares a similar sound fusing upbeat jazzy chords with house shuffling percussion.

Local Talk have become synonymous with breaking new talent such as HNNY that later goes onto achieve big things, and Crackazat is one such artist who has used the label as a spring board to kick start an accomplished career.

Crackazat has now featured tracks and remixes on other labels including Josh Wink's Ovum, Joey Negro's Z Records and Derrick Carter’s Classic. Early in his career he also released on the infamous Future Boogie, and a number of his Local Talk tracks have been licenced to prestigious compilations compiled by brands like Defected.

Featuring everyone from Terrence Parker to Soulphiction, the Local Talk back catalogue has original music from many of house music’s greatest artists who sit alongside fresh talent such as Jaxx Madicine and Marcel Lune.

Choosing tracks that he either loves of feels he can improve with a bit of careful editing, Crackazat has spent time hand picking a selection of tracks that showcase the Local Talk back catalogue in all its dazzling glory.

For those already familiar with some of the original versions on this release, it’s a fantastic chance to rediscover a classic in a revised format, and for those new to the label prepare to hear some of the best house music out there with strong influences from other genres such as jazz, funk and soul.

Moods - Where I Met You

Prolific soul man Carlton Jumel Smith made a fresh opening into deep vintage soul sounds with his Timmion single debut. Now he's back for more with the dancefloor track "This Is What Love Looks Like", paving the road towards his album, which is dropping on Timmion at the beginning of 2019.

Think of classic funky soul with a little bit of Chicago, some Tighten Up guitar and blaring horn melodies, and you get an idea, where this energizing groove is headed. Carlton gets going with his soulful testimony, while the A-list of Finnish soul and jazz players from Tuomo Prättälä and Jimi Tenor to Jukka Eskola strengthen the Cold Diamond & Mink band to new heights.

If the first single dripped with heartaches and bitterness, this one is a monumental sonic heart emoji instead, seasoned with sweet sunshine. Even though Carlton can play any part the lyric casts him in, the conveyor of positivity suits him well. In real life it's not rare to see the man smiling, and when performing he oozes with peace, love and soul, turning the audience inside out. Here he's laid down one for the dancers!

Good Enough

The multi-talented Mâhfoud releases his much anticipated debut album ‘The Fear Of Dying With Potential’ on Klassified Records this spring. The album opens with a beautiful house track that has exotic vocals and soaring strings as well as lush instrumentation. It sets an emotional tone that continues through the heavenly keys and mid-tempo grooves of ‘Free Radicals’ which we have selected to premiere here.

OK this track is unreal. I mean, we're Letherette fanboys anyway but when we found out that they had done some extended edits from their sublime Mander House LP last year, buttocks were clenched in excitement over which ones they had chosen. They did not disappoint with their choices, but what was the unexpected cherry on top was a new song from the archives that was previously unheard, with an added bonus of a 'Live' version of it. So here we are with said Live version, and its been on solid repeat since we got it. Stripping down the original version down to it's core. They've doubled down on the tribal disco drums, pulled out the live bass guitar and locked in one bad MF groove. The vocal sample is pure heads down, hands up joy and we haven't even got to the cowbell jam in the last third of the track! Can you tell we like this one?

If you go 1500 km from Moscow in Siberia direction you wil find Orenburg, a city located in the vast steppes, where Serenades originate from. Started as a local music community Serenades became a hotspot involving dozens of international musicians and DJs with podcasts and parties. True aficionados of music which lay between ethnic and electronic, Serenades have created a real oasis in Russian snow.  In 2019 Serenades continue their story with the first ever release – a big & eclectic compilation where every track is exclusively produced for the label concept by musicians from all over the world.
