DJ Gijs is resident geweest in de "schrik" van Spijkenisse, DemiSec. Samen met Parkzicht was DemiSec de allereerste waar in de early 90's op zaterdag steevast hardcore gedraaid werd. Gijs was een inspiratiebron en voorbeeld voor vele dj's. Zelfs Paul Elstak was een fan van Gijs. DJ Gijs was een resident dj op de populaire Nightmare in Rotterdam feesten. Legendarisch te noemen is zijn optreden tijdens de bekende Mayday Rave in duitsland.
