'The Trial' by Franz Kafka produced by People Zoo Productions was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Manchester Greater Fringe Festival 2016, winning both Best Newcomer and Best Adaptation.

The music underlines the intricacy of the banker K. and his paranoia as he becomes less and less understood by the people who surround him.
The dark comedy play is set in eastern Europe at the beginning of the 20th century.

The title of the piece is a combination of the Greek words Parenthesis (something in brackets) and ekthesis (exposition or exposure). 
Parekthesis, is a short descriptive piece written as an encore for Trio Conova, performed in various concert venues and festivals.

DENNIS TJIOK is a composer, producer, orchestrator and multi-instrumentalist based in London.
As a member of BFI Network x BAFTA Crew he works on projects ranging from films and games to concert music. He has won competitions for solo piano and ensemble, the EHF 2010 Award for Composition, the RNCM Entrepreneurship Award supported by YAMAHA a.o.

Having studied composition at the Royal College and Royal Northern College of Music, his works have taken him to Wigmore Hall London, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Toronto Summer Music Festival, Leeds Lieder Festival, Buxton International Festival, Berliner Philharmonie, The English Theatre Frankfurt and Baden-Baden Filmfestival, with radio features on Berlin FM, Die Welt & Salford City Radio. He is also co-founder of the chamber music series AD Festival Days and his touring ODM Project featuring new music for organ.
