one MORE thing (“Dennis DeSantis" | Weekly Beat Cypher | Strength in Numbers | Beats 2017)

This is a tune I wrote and recorded about 2 years ago inspired by, and for, Nic.
He used to say, "Is it morning?", nearly every day (or sometimes in the middle of the night!)...always eager to start a new day. And, we were always eager to see what he would do with that new day.
I played this for him once.  I told him it was inspired and about him.  After we listened to it, I asked what he thought.  He said, "Yeah, it's good", nonchalantly.  I asked, "Do you want to hear it again?".  He replied, "No, thanks". Ha Ha!
Honest, funny, sweet Nic.  We miss you so much.
Side note: A few years ago, I gathered my whole family in my studio to record some hand claps that I could use for samples in different songs.  The hand claps you hear in this song include Nic's sweet, and sore, hands along with mine, Jill's, and his big brother Ben's.

Dennis DeSantis is a composer, sound designer, author, and percussionist. He received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music. His electronic music appears on labels such as Ghostly, Global Underground, Cocoon and Kanzleramt, and he has performed throughout North America, Europe, and Japan.

Recent highlights include commissions from the Whitney Museum, the Staatsoper Stuttgart and Carnegie Hall.

DeSantis is the Head of Music Learning for Ableton, and previously worked as a sound designer for Native Instruments.
