Oliver Barrett returns with his first Petrels album in three years; The Dusk Loom. Having put out a steady album-a-year since 2011, culminating in 2016’s Jörð, Barrett decided to take a step back from the project for a while, not wanting to releasing albums out of habit and wanting to be sure that there was something new to say.

The result is at once the most expansive but also personal Petrels release to date. Three years in the making, The Dusk Loom builds on the eclectic sonic palette of Barrett’s back catalogue but brings these sounds into sharper focus than ever before. Those hoping for the all-enveloping dynamics and textures of past Petrels releases will not be disappointed, but over the ten parts of The Dusk Loom, Barrett puts this trademark euphoric aural scree to work in new and unexpected ways.

Drawing on myriad influences as fans of Barrett’s have come to expect, the resulting themes of the album are perhaps woven more intricately than before. In The Dusk Loom, Barrett takes an evocative approach to storytelling that asks the listener to draw their own meanings from the clues and references running through the sounds and words. Finding inspiration in mythology - both ancient and new, the work and writing of Remedios Varo and William Blake, memory, death and cosmology to name just a few, Barrett pulls these seemingly disparate strands together into something that is unmistakably Petrels but which also points the way to something new.

Petrels is the solo project of Somerset-based musician and artist, Oliver Barrett. Since releasing his debut, Haeligewielle, in 2011, Petrels has toured across Europe and shared a stage with the likes of Jóhann Jóhannsson, Tim Hecker, FIRE!, Nate Young (Wolf Eyes), Trouble Books, Demdike Stare, Nadja, and Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster).

Forming as a home recording project in 2009 the Perth, West Australian based Erasers (Rebecca Orchard, Rupert Thomas) released a steady flow of cd-rs, tapes and a 7” before eventually releasing their debut full length
‘Stem Together’ in 2015. In 2017 the duo followed up with a tape release ‘Fault Lines’, originally recorded as a soundtrack commissioned by FBi radio’s Ears have Ears and in April 2019 released a five track EP ‘Forecast’.


Live Erasers have honed and refined their performance, sharing the stage with the likes of Low, Grouper, Acid Mothers Temple, Prince Rama, High Wolf and The Soft Machine as well as multiple shows with long time musical heroes My Disco, Love Of Diagrams and Pikelet. In 2016 the duo embarked on a two date New
Zealand tour and in 2017 supported Methyl Ethel on their sold-out Australian tour.


After an extensive recording and mixing process, in July 2019 Erasers release their second full length Pulse Points (via Fire Talk and Pouring Dream). The album sees the duo continue their exploration of immersive, rhythmic and mood-driven music. Recorded and mixed at home on Noongar Boodja and mastered by Lawrence English (Room 40) with cover artwork by Rebecca Orchard.

From the album The New Flesh released in early 2018 through Moontown Records, Double Agent is a thumping dark club song for all ages with a message that im sure everyone can relate to "i dont trust them any of them."

The album takes heavy handed cues from David Cronenberg’s Videodrome and is an exploration of body horror and the relationship between humans and technology as well as dreams, nightmares and the structures of the human condition. A world of post apocalyptic cyber reality.

According to Nordic legends, the Kraken was a mythological creature that was terrorizing sailors from Greenland to Norway. By emerging from deep sea, the giant beast was shattering vessels with huge tentacles and devouring entire crews.

"Shadows of forgotten legends" draws a new sonic path to invoke this ancient Scourge of the Seas, awakening it from deep sleep.

Beneath the Dark Night

Fresh out of the Black Room Studio in Kiev, the third album in Dronny Darko's sound design heavy trilogy is a continuation of his dark and minimalist sound.

"The awakening is rude and painful. You scramble to your feet, slithering on black fluid as it pools off your trembling body. The giant womb and pulsating walls breathes with you, slurping red liquid through fleshy tubes. The quivering membrane squirts goo as you tear through it, facing blinding light outside.

Structures as tall as mountains dots the alien landscape. A humming low tone fills your head. A flash of three suns under a red sky. Senses cut in and out. Fluttering vision. Stuttering sound. Strobing fear. The facility calls and you answer."
