Originally released back in 2006 on Defected, Copyright’s ‘He Is’ remains a beloved dancefloor anthem to this day. The record, which saw the duo return to the US Garage sound that propelled them into clubber’s consciousness at the dawn of the millennium, features a praising vocal from Song Williamson, with charged up keys and rounded groove that gave it its euphoric quality. Now, 14 years after it was first released, two esteemed producers remix the Balearic anthem. Up first, mysterious Detroit collective Scan 7 supply their uplifting mix, as a pumping bassline and funk-laden instrumentals provide a joyous backdrop to Song Williamson’s rejoicing vocal. Mason delivers ‘Loosen Up’ on Toolroom this July as he reveals the first single from this forthcoming album, backed by a remix from Illyus & Barrientos.
Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Mason’s career has seen the Dutch native evolve his unique sound over twenty years, releasing material via a host of leading imprints including Island Records, Defected, Kittball, Skint and Sweat It Out, whilst playing playing sets in over fifty countries across the globe including at ADE, Tomorrowland and Space, Ibiza. Following the release of ‘The Get Down’ alongside ATFC on Toolroom’s recent ‘T2’ collaboration compilation, September welcomes fresh material on the label as he delivers the first single from his new album, ‘Frisky Biscuits'. The album follows two previous Mason long players and will feature a host of talented features and guests.
The first single ‘Loosen Up' showcases Mason’s irreverent, playful side and combines disco influenced vibes with subtle keys, infectious vocal hooks and refined percussion to create a smile inducing, sun-soaked production ready to take on the summer, whilst Illyus & Barrientos’ remix highlights the original’s vocal hooks with a blend of warped synths and a slick, driving bassline to shape up another impressive release on Toolroom.

Mason teams up with Camelphat cohort Jem Cooke to deliver ‘Drowning In Your Love’ on Toolroom, backed by a remix from label boss Mark Knight.

‘Drowning In Your Love’ was born out of a writing session in London between the Dutchman and the songstress in which the two wrote three tracks in a day, with the creative chemistry resulting in this sophisticated house jam becoming the second single to be released from Mason’s brand-new album, ‘Frisky Biscuits’. Having loved the track so much himself, Toolroom head Mark Knight also joins the package as he gets his hands dirty on remix duties.

The duo’s original production centres around an infectious live funk riff imbued with Mason’s on-point production and a powerful vocal performance from Jem Cooke, whilst Knight’s interpretation sees the Toolroom boss unleash his inner mirror ball; adding rich strings, a classy percussion break and a stretched-out arrangement that would rock Studio 54 if only it could.
