DEO CADAVER – Zombie Radio (1987 – 1993) 

Veteran Swiss DJ and producer Christophe ‘Daze’ Dasen aka Plastique De Rêve releases “Zombie Radio” a full-length digital album of unreleased tracks and instrumentals from his 1980s EBM / industrial band “DEO CADAVER” via Bandcamp.

It’s a true old-school concept album, that being the cadaver of a broken radio, a “Zombie Radio” half buried in a voodoo swamp, that suddenly comes back to life out of an unknown invisible energy and plays music from a time long gone - “DEO CADAVER” music, tuning through the channels at different points in space-time, reflecting the bands’ evolution and influences over their 6 years of existence.

The tracks are featured chronologically from 1987 to 1993, according to the date of their creation. The listener will be well advised to tune the Zombie Radio and check tracks all across the album playlist, as the bands’ gear, sound and influences varied greatly over time!

DEO CADAVER was a Swiss EBM / industrial duo (later trio) based in Geneva, Switzerland, active between 1987 and 1993. Starting at the young age of 17 in the footsteps of bands such as The Young Gods, Front 242, Laibach and Skinny Puppy, they gradually developed their own sound and epic live performances, later joining other Swiss electro pioneers to form the experimental performance collective MXP.

There is beauty in rottenness. The decay of withered flowers shows us the intimate closeness between caducity, death, and beauty. The atmospheres generated by toxic plants, with the poisons we inhale, are environments of fantasy, hypnotic, where we release our most intimate desires. In a fantasy anything can happen, even what we long for the most.
The flowers of evil are the flowers of death, but they are also the rotten, imperfect, hard flowers that embody a fecund and beautiful force. It is in the tension between darkness and beauty, in the darkest moments of life, that the most beautiful can bloom. From the Baudelairean-decadentist motif of Las Flores Del Mal to the darker calm of a Lullaby, which does not want to let us sleep, this EP is tense between death and resurrection. Between evil and what could blossom from it.
