Paul Older is the man behind the Disco Mind Records and after something of a short break, he and it are back with a bang. These two superb cuts are the result of him going on a deep digging record trip and unearthing two marvelous old gems that have been expertly restored for modern dance floors without losing any of the grit and realness that makes old tunes so appealing. 'The Venetian Girl (Marisa)' comes on strong with huge horns and big Philly percussion that reminds immediately of the legendary Studio 54 and then 'Up' is a big-time party pumper with funky elements to get the floor going.

Set the Mood with Vjenz!

Vjenz is a DJ I am thrilled to introduce to you. He is a versatile artist with a heart rooted in electro, and in this mix, he has poured his love for techno into every beat. Expect a deep opening set where four-on-the-floor rhythms alternate with breakbeats, making this a compelling start to the series.

For Vince, a perfect opening set should not only warm up the crowd and get people dancing but also serve as an opportunity for DJs to experiment and gauge the audience’s reactions. In this set, he wanted to highlight his passion for techno while weaving in elements of his electro roots, which he considers the highlights of the mix.

Vince (also known as Vjenz) has been passionate about music his entire life. From a young age, he had a deep love for hip-hop, but he also explored electronic music and developed a strong appreciation for disco and world music. When a friend of his got a small turntable, they both quickly became hooked on DJing. Initially, they played a wide range of genres, something Vince continues to do because of his broad love for music. Around that time, electro started gaining more recognition, igniting a new passion in him and guiding his focus in that direction.

Since then, Vince has increasingly gravitated towards techno, a genre he finds profoundly moving and emotionally resonant. He believes that techno has the unique ability to take listeners on an emotional journey, which is one of the most special experiences you can create behind the turntables.

He continues to share this passion with his friends through their show "Plaatjes en Maatjes" on Birdcage Radio, where they invite new talents to join in, have a great time, and share their music.
