In the grand tapestry of time, amidst the distant echoes of nostalgia, a tale unfolds—a tale of camaraderie, distance bridged by bonds unbroken. 🌟 This week, fate intertwined our paths once more, as I reunited with my stalwart companion, Henk. Though separated by 300 leagues of land, our friendship remains steadfast, a beacon of enduring kinship. ⚔️

As we imbibed the elixirs of merriment, reminiscence stirred within us like a tempest unleashed. Memories, like constellations in the night sky, illuminated our conversation. 🌌 Among them, a cherished relic of our youth emerged—the Valentine Dance, a jubilant soirée that graced the sands of BeachClub Sunrise in Best, fifteen cycles of the sun ago.

In those halcyon days, we embarked on an odyssey, curating melodies that stirred souls and ignited passions. I recall crafting a promotional set, a symphony of beats intended to enrapture the hearts of our revelers, a glimpse into the sonic splendor of Valentine Dance '09. 🎶 Yet, hesitant to unveil its essence, I concealed this relic, deeming it unworthy of the world's stage.

But lo, fate's whimsy guides my hand, urging me to cast aside doubt and embrace the legacy of yesteryear. Thus, with a flourish of resolve, I unearthed the long-forgotten artifact—a 256kbps mp3 file, a testament to bygone euphony. 🎧

Behold, dear comrades, I present to you this relic of ages past—a testament to the melodies that once graced our hearts. Embrace this time capsule, this 15-year-old recording, and let its rhythms transport you to an era of jubilation and unity. 🌟✨ Let the music reignite the flames of memory, for in its echoes, we find the essence of our shared journey. 🎵🔥

Valentine Dance Theme by DJ DepGlobe (NES006)

Attached is the set I performed on the 17th of February, amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Achterhoek. Crafting my sets meticulously from start to finish is a personal tradition, and this time was no exception. I had the opportunity to test some of the tracks at a very special birthday celebration just the weekend before, held at a charming farmhouse just around the corner from where I reside.

The evening began with EJ setting a warm and inviting tone, instantly making everyone feel at home in a place they likely had never visited before. I was truly moved by how any initial hesitations melted away, aided by the poignant strains of the classic track "Adagio For Strings" performed with the original intention by Barber. Emotions were stirred for those open to receiving the signals, myself included.

Following the enchanting opening DJ set by Eddy, it was my turn to take the stage. From the very start, I was immersed in the moment, carefully weaving together a tapestry of tracks not in a haphazard sequence, but with each addition enhancing the journey as the set unfolded. I even managed to incorporate Dave's and Martin's vocals twice; with "Nothing Else Matters" remixed by Carlos Gatto, and the tender "The Things You Said" in the Nick Warren & Nicolas Rada Remix.

While some may lament prolonged breaks in Progressive House sets, there was no such complaint as timeless classics like "Morning Struggle" by Henrik Zuberstein, "Erectheum" (Original Mix) by Ruben Karapetyan, or "Last Standing" (Original Mix) by Guy J graced the dancefloor. The reception to these breaks was truly heartening. And to close the set with Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" in the Kaz James & Nick Morgan Extended Remix evoked a bittersweet nostalgia, leaving a lasting imprint on the soul. It was indeed a night to cherish. I hope you find as much joy in this set as I did in creating it. Until next time!

Every once in a while I return with a new LOVEPOTION inFLOWMOTION — a longform DJ journey that often runs 5–6 hours, because some stories need space to unfold. Fresh discoveries meet older gems that still belong in the same emotional arc.

Right now there’s a lot of weight on my shoulders. So I’m doing the only honest thing left: going back to the base — the music I was always busy with, am busy with, and will always be busy with. Progressive House is still the language my heart speaks… even if my quiet hours are often filled with the piano worlds of Gibran Alcocer, Morunas, and Andrea Vanzo.

After being warmed up by legendary Phil "Moonface" Thompson I started enthusiastic at 830pm with my own set at the Metronomes Villa Southampton. Oh men, I had the time of my life with all this crazy people dancing around the booth not realizing that I performed for over 7 hours without any break.

Phil Thompson is a DJ / Producer of electronic dance music for over 20 years. Since first getting his hands on a mate’s Technics back in 1993 he’s beaten a pretty impressive path through dance music consciousness.

Phil got his first break, warming up for John Digweed, at a Northern Exposure night in Southampton and has been an active player on the scene ever since. He’s had residencies at clubs and nights along the UK’s south coast and has played internationally as far afield as Moscow, Tokyo, Bali, South America, Greece, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and his second home Tbilisi, Georgia.

Digweed’s global heavy-weight brand Bedrock really helped solidify Phil’s status as an international DJ with the early millennium seeing him warming up for both Sasha and Digweed at John’s monthly nights in London & Brighton. Phil was Bedrock resident for over 5 years.

As well as playing all over the world at amazing parties; highlights include warming up for Digweed in an aircraft hangar in Tel Aviv, playing at Sasha’s Airdrawndagger album launch party at London club Heaven and playing at the atmospheric Tunnel Club, a former air-raid shelter in the side of a mountain in Tbilisi. Phil is equally happy at home in the studio producing under his Moonface moniker and has a very impressive discography to show for it.

His latest release ‘Across the Gulf of Space’ features on ‘Bedrock 18 - Signals’ a 3x CD album of exclusive tracks from some of Bedrock’s favourite artists alongside some exciting new names on the label’s roster. Phil’s first release was number four on Bedrock Records, the now classic ‘Futurized Fears’ - soon followed by a 6 track mini album ‘Between Worlds’ voted album of the month by several magazines at the time. Then came‘Layered Sounds’, mixed by both himself and John Digweed. Phil also has numerous releases on quality compilation CDs such as the ‘Balance Series 006’ on EQ Recordings and the legendary Global Underground and Nubreed series, as well as releases on Tulipa, Endemic and Wolf Trap.

Phil’s love of music started at home as it does for many DJ / Producers. His very early influences as diverse as his Grandma’s extensive 1950s vinyl collection to Howard Jones as a teenager, Kraftwerk, Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin to name just a few. Always searching for new music he’s never heard before, constantly evolving but always staying true to his underground roots, Phil’s sound is tough, tribal, and layered with outer world sounds.

Phil is also a very talented artist / illustrator and is responsible for release artwork on labels such as Wolf Trap, Greta Cottage; the most recent being Paxton Fettel’s 2nd vinyl album release on the label, and now for High Tide Recordings.

Getting noticed in the dance music scene wasn’t easy before the birth of social media and Phil’s story says a lot about his passion for the scene back in the mid 90’s until this day. He put in the studio hours regularly driving over to his friend’s studio-in-a-shed to begin his foray into music production. Searching for the right people to send out endless promo tapes but never getting any feedback for years - It was never a career move or about wanting to be a superstar DJ but about the feeling you get playing music you love to a crowd of people who want it.

After being warmed up by legendary Phil "Moonface" Thompson I started enthusiastic at 830pm with my own set at the Metronomes Villa Southampton. Oh men, I had the time of my life with all this crazy people dancing around the booth not realizing that I performed for over 7 hours without any break.

Imagine a young DepGlobe, just 8 years old, whose world revolved around the enchanting Dutch radio shows like "The Rock and Roll Method." In the blink of an eye, he became an ardent disciple of musical legends such as Gene Vincent, Elvis, and The Beatles. The year 1981 witnessed his first affair with vinyl ecstasy, a 12" single that none other than New Order's "Everything's Gone Green." But his musical journey was far from ordinary, for luminaries like Patrick Cowley and Giorgio Moroder had already begun weaving their enigmatic influence into his soul during the early '80s.

Fast forward to 1983, when a fire was ignited within DepGlobe, thanks to the trailblazing Ben Liebrand. He embarked on a thrilling odyssey, crafting his own magnetic mixes with a "cut and paste" finesse that ignited high school parties, and soon, the DJ decks at student gatherings. Between 1998 and 2003, he unveiled a symphonic tapestry across three different genres: ClubSession 1-7, GlobalTrance 1-6. But the evolution didn't stop there. Influenced by the likes of John Creamer, Stephane K, Lemon8, and Deep Dish, he birthed his Massive Progressive Series 1-6, generously sharing his sonic creations among his closest friends.

As the years unfurled, DepGlobe's musical persona crystallized into the breathtaking realm of Progressive. Yet, his favorite tracks remain a delightful enigma—progressive techno, pure progressive, techno, tech house, or deep house? Since 2011, DepGlobe's musical magic has graced the digital airwaves of SoundCloud.
