Aimed at showcasing more contemporary luminaries with industrial post-techno inclinations through its own channels, England-hailing Depth.Request records presents a second installment in its tumultuous Hostile Responses & Provocations series. The digital release, in vain of previous episode, offers six cuts that vary from contemplative, ritualistic explorations to direct-drive, four-to-the-floor juggernauts, forged by different artists spread across European continent who showcase distinctly separate approach towards production and are mostly new to the label.

Sparking off in a fashion one would expect from a composition that has a latin adjective suffix for a title, Zagam's Toriam demands a bit of listeners' cerebral investment to decipher the rhythmic narration, its scattered drum patterns eclipsed by alien baying, landscapes consisting of hemidemisemiquaver-long hats, softly shrilling outbursts of digital noise that vary in intensity as well as length, and a free-roam, expect-anything approach to structure.

Introduced with intensely throbbing ocean-floor rumbling high-passed punitively to lowest ranges, Metalogue continues with More as Dust, a track that soon explodes into full spectrum and reveals itself to be a hard-pounding, cybernetic breakbeat venture that allows less and less breathing space as it moves forward via tightening arrays of kicks accompanied with occasional intrusions of twisted, wobbling synths which outgain other elements by the means of sidechaining.

Ironically enough for a tune called Crawlspace, Swarm Intelligence tears away the torch of tension and resolutely dashes with it as if there's just no fucking tomorrow; comparatively, the effect of this relentless and unsparing 4/4 stomper draws a sensation of jumping from a simmering water into a raging furnace, its vicious drums paced at 140 BPM greeting the woofers head-on while the arcs of gritty droning and armies of condensing percs join the wave until an already busy visual representation of it resembles an impenetrable wall.

Ominous, suspenseful, and resonant of sound one would expect to find on a score to a handsomely budgeted techno-thriller, majority of Second Spectre's Smuggler is set in halftime tempo, corrosive bassline and eroded toms being its main stand-outs, with choral drones, sandy hats and tumbling low-range drums adding to the portrayal of a distinctly dystopian plot with doubtful prospects of a happy ending over the sunless horizon.

Aiming to oppress from second one, Hump Shunted's say-good-bye-to-your-face attitude is achieved through Rommek's scourging, offbeat thudding sidelined only by potent and ceaseless discharge of abrasive mid-to-low scale bass, atop which two distinct layers of panning and buzzing synths fight for dominance against troubled wails of polytonal siren, stretching across mournfully, presumably in lamentation of the record's imminent end.

In what is Nigh/T\mare's culminative piece, voices from the dark, obscured and foreshadowing, pave a pathway towards Armagheddon's ruthless, apocalyptic kicks that strike indiscriminately and stochastically; devastating the scenery in manner of four horsemen, they are accompanied by trailing aftershocks, occasional howls, fragmented whispers and enshrouding layers of imperial ambiance instilling a sense of despondency first, and soon after that, doom.

Having stepped into fourth year of existence the factory of Depth.Request manufactures an article in form of an EP titled "Night Wounds Time" produced by British-born underground scene veteran Mahk Rumbae under the guise antechamber, which—in slight contrast to his arguably better known alias Codex Empire—he ostensibly reserves for a more dysfunctional brand of electronic music intended as much for frantic terpsichorean participation as for contemplating the inevitable under the gloom of moonless nights. In line with offbeat nature of sounds presented, the release gives a subtle nod to Tom Phillips' literary oeuvre "A Humument", borrowing its name and track titles from the lines within the idiosyncratic book.

As the listener takes a step In The Vaulted Hall they are greeted with suspenseful arcs of ambiance joined expediently by metal-clad armies of charged polyrhythms that paint a picture that constitute an equally brutalist and intriguing entry.
For Blic Adula things aren't any less raucous, its direction switched to halftime tech-n-bass with obfuscation of primary leads and stronger accentuation on tribal aesthetics.
Coming off as the most dancefloor-friendly item on the track list, Unknown Junction merges ceaseless droning with shrilling pads and sandy hi-hats with stridently whamming kicks, coming down to a piece best described as witch techno.
With Rhetoric of Ruin, the immediate acceleration of elephantine kicks arranged in tight sets of five is startling to say the least, and the tonal drums relentlessly accompanying them stand out among the other percussive militia in a manner that befits the primal theme of the track faultlessly.
Thick drones that stretch broadly over the bluntly and ruthlessly thudding low-range percs with tails of tom drums echoing in their wake accompanied by rapid-fire hats make together what can be expected to find On the Borders of Shadow—six-tracker's penultimate piece.
Putting a more linear spin on the opener, French noisemaker YURA YURA evidently throws an EMP grenade straight In The Vaulted Hall, which results in levels of distortion rough enough to challenge the auditory sensors of even highly seasoned industrial music fiends.

London's own Depth.Request resurfaces anew with another installment of its warehouse-imperative releases suggestively named Hostile Responses & Provocations. Serving as a conclusion to the series, Volume 3 boasts a welcomed 8 tracks against established 6, clocking in at two thirds of an hour. Contemporary strains of EBM and Techno merging in one solid and varied end product authored by some compelling additions to the label roster; all in all, the selection brings much to spark the interest with.

Tumbling toms, gloomy pads, and distant clanking of metal infused with whispers of demonic entities, according to Fairground Of Tears, is the incantation needed to make Lies Become Truth—a shadowy opener to the VA.

Following with an offer to ponder a No Tomorrow scenario, Kursk provides our thoughts a soundtrack wherein explosive halftime strikes combat abrasive arcs of stretched out air raid drones set under arrays of unsettling, bleeping patterns.

Electric jolt to a nervous system if nothing else, densely arranged kicks puncturing roars of maddening sirens and fluttering, insectoid hats make evident that G.xist takes the concept of Simulation Theory neither lightly nor calmly.

A stealth-went-wrong venture into hostile territory, tech-step hybrid Static shows Vanya Koreya make an assembly of galloping drums, clicky, breakneck-pace hats, echoing cold stabs, grimy basscillations and anxious, intruder-alert signals.

On Provoker, a satisfying EBM stomper and a 4/4 tracklist exclusive, MDD harkens to leather-clad and bottle-smash days of punk through direct, assertive pounds, persistently corrosive bass, whiplashing claps and unintelligible vocalizations abraded to din with distortion.

Effectively benumbing by way of impenitent linearity, Ryuji Takeuchi-devised Incoherent is a medley of incessant, acid-soaked thrashing and oppressive industrial factory ambiance, as loud in nature as is the quiet terror of a disturbed mind.

Sharply filtered utterances drowning in slick, expertly textured mechanoise across minty perc minutiae lent hedonistic breathing space—not one sample is out of place to a sci-fetishistic slowburner Bound by The Undertaker's Tapes.

Rounding things up with abundance of drive, Tunnel's melancholic in tone yet highly dance- functional feat Feeding The Beast stands out as an impeccable closer, its wildly bouncy upbeat arrangements and skin-penetrating layers of synths capable of making any night one to remember; rewind selecta!

"Having been deck slaying as near their London headquarters as Germany and as far as Canada, goth techno prodigy Lesser Of is steadily approaching double digit release count. With an established residence at queer x trans focused, revolutionary event series Subverted, their efforts have been welcomed to a formidable list of industrial electronic labels and remixed by a tidy sum of high profile scene icons. Here at Depth.Request our sonars are attuned to emanant potential, and so we conscript Lesser Of to hammer out our fourth acetate offering to date. To this, harsh noise and drone music inspirations are declared, alongside an artistic secret of the trade: lights-off sessions in live room of a recording studio vibrating with the pulse of a bass guitar ran through a freeze pedal were what begot the tracks, and they are well intent on assaulting your headphones with noise. Reeko on the remix—yes, this record fucks.

Prolonged, ominous intro? Nah. Have a face full of Crude Manifestation Of Power instead, as an insatiable, 10-minute long opener braces your ears for a week of ringing with a sonic equivalent of metallic thrashing one could expect from being a sinful, rave-lusting scoundrel. On title-diverting continuation Within My Fragility the words "strength in fragility" are truly alliterated as the pace, abrasiveness and intensity of pummeling are all ramped up fiercely, with linear open hats thrown against them from time to time for good measure. Having reached 140 BPM and concrete mean, Masked proceeds in a well anticipated ra(n)ge: infernal atmosphere, sandy hats and layered tectonic tremors achieved with increasingly undefined low end consisting of a rumble line and rolling kick morphing into abrasive haze. Winding the tempo back a notch, a halftime-arranged contemplation Our Descent grows in direct, hyperborean vector: glassy drones and sharp syncopulsation first—atonal reverberations, distorted arpeggios and punchy stabs endwise. Reeko's analog reinvention of Masked convolves the drum structure by borrowing from breakbeat narratives and authorizes the dystopian ambiance to rise and fall on more gradual, panning, confined terms; adding, however, more disorder to the mix with spectrum slicing, high-range chaos.

As you would have learned to expect from Depth.Request, Within My Fragility EP is not an easy listening five-tracker. If by the end of it you find yourself feeling as if you just stepped out of a pounding warehouse at 3AM and you don't know what day it is, you wouldn't have been experiencing this mindspace alone." - rhetor

No Tears, No Sighs, Only Tomorrow Vanishes Scraps is a deeply evocative EP by Egyptian producer Khaled Weshahy, known as KHLD, where he crafts a narrative that intertwines personal emotions with the poignant visual poetry of the Japanese animated surrealist film Belladonna of Sadness (1973). Inspired by the film, this EP serves as both a sonic tribute to the movie’s protagonist, Jeanne, and a reflection on the broader themes of female suffering and resilience.

The EP opens with "In The Eyes Of Jeanne", a track that envelops the listener in a brooding atmosphere, with haunting sub-tones and ethereal soundscapes that evoke Jeanne’s tragic journey. Followed by "Moans Of Sadness," where visceral noises and distorted drums echo despair and anguish that permeate the narrative. This meticulously crafted dystopian soundscapes are engineered to obliterate any dancefloor, heralding the chaos. Handle with caution: this is dangerous material.

The album ignites with intricate drum patterns that thunder like tanks across a barren, icy wasteland, while haunting atmospheric elements loom, setting a menacing tone for the journey ahead.
Next, a feverish descent into robot’s nightmare ensues, where mechanical drum liturgies weave relentless tension, immersing listeners in a post-human auditory realm.
As the odyssey progresses, doom-laden horns and mechanized drums merge to unleash subversive, devastating frequencies.
Just when the intensity seems to peak, filthy analog sine waves bubble through obscurity, pushing the boundaries of industrial techno music to its limits. Annihilation is the word that resonates here.

Depth.Request proudly announces the debut full-length album from French electronic artist Pierre Berge-Cia — a culmination of two years of dedicated experimentation and creative exploration. This inaugural LP represents a significant milestone in Pierre Berge-Cia’s musical journey, showcasing his innovative approach to electronic music.

Crafted through experimental processes and delving into themes of tension, control, and movement, "If You Do, Then When?" unfolds as a visceral journey through the complexities of bodily and sensory experience. Each track is designed to reflect the human body in all its shapes and forms, using innovative sounds and structures to evoke physicality and movement, and aiming to resonate with listeners on a deeply corporeal level.

The album was produced using a combination of the Elektron Digitone synth, a Mackie CR1604 mixer, a Shure SM57 microphone, and a limited selection of digital plugins to maintain sonic consistency. Mastering was handled by Pierre’s close friend, Stefan Brown — also known as "Lesser Of". His expertise as a top-tier sound engineer at Abbey Road Studios helped shape the LP’s pristine and powerful sound identity. Additionally, the tracks were tested and refined using some of the electronic scene’s most beloved sound systems, ensuring an impactful club experience. 

The album’s artwork, created by Pierre Berge-Cia himself, is a reinterpretation of one of his favorite art performances: "Rest Energy" by Marina Abramović and Ulay. The tension of the drawn bow and the close-up framing of the subject evoke a palpable sense of danger and emotional intensity, mirroring the physical and psychological strains within human connection. Pierre used his own hands as the model, infusing the artwork with a deeply personal and intimate touch that amplifies the psychic gravity and thematic cohesion of the album.

Pierre Berge-Cia’s debut LP is a multi-sensory experience that challenges listeners to feel sound in its most physical and affective form.

§ (section) is a reflection — a flashback to the raw, underground energy of the post-Covid rave era, before the scene became saturated with mainstream trends and commercial aesthetics. It’s a call to remember what the dancefloor used to feel like: intimate, intense, and unfiltered.
The EP The Last Wish draws inspiration from the video game narrative in which, at the very end, a portal sends you back to the beginning. That cyclical motion mirrors the artist’s final wish: to return to the roots — to the sweat-drenched warehouses, to the uncompromising sound, to the underground. This is not nostalgia for the sake of it — it’s a sonic rebellion. A time loop. A ritual. A last wish to rewind the scene.
Accompanying the three original § (section) tracks are remixes from a trio of underground disruptors: Tunnel, Violent, and 2+2=5. Each brings their own strain of industrial techno chaos — from Tunnel’s mechanical pulse and cavernous atmospheres to Violent’s scorched-earth distortion and breakneck pressure, to 2+2=5’s bleak, experimental deconstructions. These aren’t just remixes — they’re mutations. Warped reflections of the original vision, dragged deeper into the warehouse void. DRD003 - § (section) - The Last Wish - Preview

Depth.Request sees a new hat being thrown into the techno ring. The hat in question is the label's first EP Anvil—a post-tech five-tracker, and the person throwing it is Blasted—an Italian producer with a number of solid EPs to his name. Having had previously shared release credits with him on a number of occasions, Berlin's renowned noisemaker Unhuman fits into the picture as well, being the one charged with remixing duties regarding the titular track.

      Setting common tact aside for a moment, the opener showcases Blasted indulging in esoteric inclinations by the means of concentrating on slick, abrasive sound design, cutting the number of kicks in half and utilizing a vocal sample to add a pinch of EBM into the mix. Unhuman's slowed-down rework in turn evokes gears' incessant grind at the backdrop of steam pressurizers going up and down in alteration, producing arrays of heavily plodding, whamming kicks. Breaking free of esoterism and leftfield production, the EP continues with Jawbreaker—a peak-time affair wherein the lows are ravaged by constant sub-bass pressure and ruthlessly striking, syncopated kicks, laid under the neatly-synthesized, impenetrable hats, pertaining to Blasted's signature sound. On Filthy Goat, the assault continues with a renewed strength as anxious synths and panning hats gradually invade the scene shortly before the devastating kicks storm down in a hail of obliterating projectiles, creating a battlefield-evocative environment within this decimating, explosive stomper. Lastly, demonic closer Belial bids its fair digital-only-money's worth of adieu with magnificent ambiance interwoven within the spectrum alongside meticulously arranged drumwork presented through plethora of varied, carefully picked samples.

Close to a year after its Blasted-fathered, inaugural first EP, Depth.Request operators reveal that the London-based imprint is far from being dead in a cradle and has a pair of legitimately attention-commanding names presented on the sleeve of its sophomore record as a matter of fact: with a career spanning well over a decade, Osaka's reliable warehouse demolitioner Ryuji Takeuchi needs little in terms of introduction and really so does A1 remix-assigned Swarm Intelligence, whose designer creations are known to provoke thought and action at even degree.
Phenomenon Of Combination starts off with Noctambulism, an anxious-to-get-to-it opener whose 6 kicks a tact work nicely to perceivably speed up its tempo of 132 and aren't halting for bit as the distorted acidic sequence, spinning hats and tides of noise gradually show up to do what reaching crude oil connection would to a wildfire already raging. 
As percussion in a revised 136-BPM version is approached differently and with more emphasis applied, the signatures remain uneven—as is often the case with Swarm Intel's offbeat and off-the-wall production; that aside, the roaring digital grinding and vertiginously panning mid-section drones add sinister colors to Takeuchi's metaphorical picture which wasn't exactly evoking green pastures and still waters to begin with. 
While brought down to 124 a minute, one probably wouldn't want Somnambulism running much faster anyway with a somewhat convoluted drum programming that is involved; a steady rise of distortion and gain of its fluctuating acid bassline also proves to provide enough fortitude to make up for the mid-range tempo and slowly but surely fills up every patch of the spectrum with acute aural intensity. 
Definitively exhausting the synonyms for this titularly addressed brand of parasomnia, Sleepwalking brings the release to closure through diligently whanging 4x4s alongside a condensing arrangement of 16x16s, paced at 137 and supported in their plight by faintly striking claps with light hats peaking from behind the perpetuating pattern of a deranged acid wall that undoubtedly does to psyche something akin to subtly stirring the sanity meter towards E while drilling a hole in tank to eliminate the possibility of a refill.
Maddening in all good senses, second adoptee of Depth.Request is a four-pack of tools forget to inflict hard damage, best recommended to those that regard their local factory-made-a-venue as weekend retreat.

DR002 - Ryuji Takeuchi - Phenomenon of Combination - EP - Preview

After an annum of repose, London-based and industrial-clique-doted Depth.Request offers to consideration what's promised to be the first volume in a series titled Hostile Responses & Provocations. Boasting an international lineup, this post-punk, EBM-leaning VA release revolves predominantly at a pace of 135 BPM and features occasional outbursts of indiscernibly distorted lyrics throughout its six rough-hewed, distinctly industrial cuts.

Setting a brooding but aptly instigating tone, No.Ba's opener Bourbon Drive rolls out with unhastily tumbling percs, widely mounting pads and grungy bass cast behind roaring outcries of a rather aggravated vocalist.

Positing that Hate's A Loaded Gun, Istigkeit then continues by elevating velocity, hardening its relentless kicks and violating the rest of the spectrum with walls of sandy hats and whooshes occasionally intersected with looped utterances.

Cranking the cacophony handle to eleven in his wildly syncopated Shug that creates sense of participating in a DIY rave taking place at the base of an erupting volcano, War Scenes programs the drums to run at a double time next to speeding open hats and a condensed, pressurizing sub level.

As last days of s.e.x.'s-fathered and Espectra Negra-featured Phallic Mother starts off, one could be forgiven for thinking that a record with sirens of the apocalypse have been put under the needle of God's antique doomsday gramophone; breathing room is nowhere be found on this anarchic monstrosity on an aural beatdown where screeching and screaming combat to outperform the relentless drumline in gain.

The plate's penultimate suggestion Never Be Silent sees NX1 participant Samot coming well to his own through the use of quartertime-turning-halftime kicks, dirty bass sheets, eerily exhaling stabs, elongated shrills and other percussive arrangements forged seemingly of sheer noise conditioned to occupy higher ranges.

Closing on a comparatively restrained, stealthy crawler DXS, Blasted lastly showcases his knack for conjuring contemplative sound environments where UK bass can flirt with techno and percussive elements of non-overlapping positions are given equal footing in terms of establishing rhythms and carrying the sonic narrative forward without a need for restraint to permanent patterns of behavior.
