KFMW Advent 2018

In recent years there have been few places the DT team would rather be than in Amsterdam’s Trouw.  Initially intended as a temporary nightspot, the former newspaper factory quickly found a special place in our hearts as it offered one of the finest clubbing experiences in the world launching some of the Netherland’s most promising rising stars and it was with great sadness that we received the news that the club would be entering its final 12 months as of this January. 

One such talent to come out of the Amsterdam institution is resident and Life and Death label manager, Job Jobse who has quickly forged a reputation as one of the one to watch, winning plaudits from some of the scenes biggest names with Tale Of Us and the Innervisions camp already amongst his growing army of fans. Regularly showcasing his diverse musical knowledge, we can certainly see why he’s resident at one of the world's most respected clubs, as well as managing label of the moment, Life and Death, at such an early age.

So with these achievements in mind and  him being about to touch down in London on Saturday March 8th to play for new night We Concur at Crucifix Lane alongside Mano Le Tough, Clockwork and Mind Against, we thought that we’d secure the services of Job to with this exclusive mix for your listening pleasures. I'm happy to finally release my first extended set with you, recorded at StereoBar in Montreal. StereoBar is a club that's quickly jumped onto my shortlist of favorite venues in the world. Beyond the nailing the club fundamentals (sound system, layout, lighting, staff), they feature the "All Night" series where one DJ plays as opener, headliner, and closer. I love this format since it gives me the opportunity to build the energy from scratch and take the night in any direction without constraints.

But more importantly, I get to play for one of the most enthusiastic, supportive crowds that I've ever encountered. The energy from this night was the strongest I've felt in quite some time, certainly my best gig of the last year. Almost everything I threw out there worked, which actually makes me think that I might not have worked hard enough. There are many more sonic landscapes I'd love to explore, so hopefully I can come back again soon and we can take another journey in that special room...

A true artist always strives for new challenges to experience the unexpected, to master a different approach to the existing and to broaden one's mind. Marcus Worgull did just that with his Torture the Artist's anniversary art:cast that was meant to be an all ambient mix in the first place. In the end it turned out to be something else, something different, but still something that is 100% Marcus Worgull. It's become a mix care- and skillfully compiled by one that knows his craft in and outside the world's clubs, by one who always puts music first and hopes it has a relevance for his audience as it has for him. It's Marcus' honesty, his authenticity but also his skills as a DJ and producer that have made him a scene's mainstay and favorite for almost two decades. Of course, releases like his 'Love Song EP', including the highly appreciated The Cure remake featuring Fink, his 'Lenoix EP' in collaboration with Peter Pardeike or his dub-influenced EP 'Broad Horizons' - all out on Innervisions - enhanced Marcus' profile as a producer and introduced him to a global audience.
