"homework - year 8" is the eighth volume in an ongoing series of compilations which are released at the end of each year and gather unreleased tracks composed/recorded/tweaked/finalized during the year by as much taâlem artists as possible.

so once again, we've asked every artist who had a release on taâlem during these 22 past years to contribute a 2023 track.

we've received 71 tracks for this eighth edition. most of the contributing artists were already present on the previous editions (even on all of them for a few!) while others could unfortunately not make it.

as always, taâlem wishes to thank all the artists involved for their generosity, patience, trust and support during all these years.
and of course big thanks to our ever loyal customers too! we couldn't go on without you.

Abyss gazes into you (tomonari nozaki / 2023)

Kristof Bathory of Void Stasis and Dawn of Ashes serves us his first solo album on Cryo Chamber with Humanoid Dystopia. A cinematic dark ambient story revolving around four androids exiled to a desert prison planet. Huge walls of sounds, modular arpeggiators and sweeping basslines serve us a textured palette of sounds that combine for a true sci-fi epic.

Ugasanie presents his album Cold World of Eternity, a dark polar ambient album with field recordings and mystical droning that paints a perfect backdrop for northern exploration.

In the far north, whispers of a bygone civilization linger in the crisp air. Intriguing clues fuel speculation: ancient maps marked with cities that seem to have vanished, and weathered remnants of massive stone structures scattered across the frozen landscape.

These structures, with their rough, geometric shapes, stand as silent witnesses to a forgotten past. But the most compelling evidence comes from the stories passed down through generations by the indigenous people. They speak of a time when unknown travelers from the north walked these lands, leaving only echoes in the legends they carried...

Svartsinn was asked to contribute a song for the desibel project which is a part of Norway's biggest festival "Øyafestivalen" in 2016. As I was already working on a new album I chose to make a track with a theme that could fit in with the album concept. This is the desibel project version of the song. A slightly different version will appear on the album.  The song image shows the speakers also known as Desibel. (The worlds biggest mobile speakers). Mastered by Simon Heath at Cryo Chamber.
