Future Memories [FREE BEAT]

"The Phoenix Rise" is my take on coming up out of sadness, grief, fear, stress and confusion.  I wanted to convey hope, love, joy, gratitude and respect for the gift of music, which has helped me overcome many of those negative influences (i.e. people, situations, etc.) that were in my life on a regular basis. 

Those influences had me doubting myself, my friends, my loved ones and my talent.  I had to let go of that "serious nonsense" of being a non-mattering person (someone who mattered said that to me).  For a while I believed I wouldn't matter (and acted/in-acted like it was true).  But, it's NOT true.  

I had to learn The Truth all over again.  We ALL matter, even when we think or feel we don't.  You and I would be sadly missed if we were no longer here (by someone dear to you and even some unknown).  I pondered those people.  Started to reach out with music.

After much mind/soul-searching, I decided to continue expressing myself through music because it's universal in feeling, emotion, power, beauty and TRUTH.  For whatever feelings that were happy or sad, sexy and insane, introspective or intense, I thoroughly retreated into my music world for a few months (away from everyone) and began composing my feelings (good and bad) and recording and arranging them through software I was still learning how to use.

In so doing, I made a storyboard of my Life.  I could revisit events, emotional traumas and things I fought to NOT ever think about again. Things that seemed real present became less threatening (like mini series episodes) and I could re-order the important GREAT moments, like validation and love, or Forgiveness, Hope, etc..  Being able to turn those formerly terrible emotionally crippling thoughts into art has been beneficial to finding the ''silver linings" again.  NOT suffering for art, but always being about your passion, regardless of good OR bad things, has been my lesson.  LIFE goes on.

All I can say is, this musical-emotional journey over the past few years has changed my life (and my relationships). Don't EVER give up on your "day-dreams" (they may change, but the feeling stays the same).  If others don't "get it", then be your OWN passion.  That is my other lesson learned. 

"The Phoenix Rise" is my recent musical epiphany.  Latin, Hip-Hop and RnB rhythms mesh well with a Spanish guitar playing the lead, opposite classic strings that are "lush and loose".  It's short and sweet, but it still brings me up every time I listen to it.

This was completely produced on the Juno Gi keyboard, and remixed on Acid Pro 7.

The Phoenix Rise (A Ballad )

"Heart and Soul" is a track I composed 5 years ago as an homage to all the laid back groove-ologists out there.  It's jazzy, funky and infectious.  Everything you need to just "bop-a-long" in a hip hop song.  

An electric rhodes stack fleshes out the groove, while synths, guitars and regga-bass hold down the rhythm.  This is easy listening, especially after the club.  Sit back and relax.

This is pure smooth groove funk, with just a touch of jazz-tech keys & synths to keep it tasty.  The bass is subtle enough to leave it all to the beat in spots....then BAM it drops in like a friend (ready to take you out & groove you up).

This is a track I am gonna add video to.  I want people to SEE the funk-diversity that exists in house music AND hip-hop.

My Metropolis (DjMe City Drive Nite Mix)

Downtempo has a new groove with "My Dj's Jazz".  It's unapologetically CHILL, still managing to bring the groove-funk into play and maximize the rhythms.

Electric rhodes, synths, mute trumpet, trombone, jazz guitar riffs and a "minimalist" laid-back bassline are the ingredients to this cool lounge confection.  

Maybe throw in a little Billie Holiday on a vocal sample (or yummy Dinah Washington remix), hmmm?!!
I love music...it's the one thing I can't do without.

Downtempo hip-hop/lounge is all about the groove and the mix.  "Oddyssey of the Journeyman" is exactly what you expect in a good beatz track. Layers & flavors of sounds and licks.  A rapper's dream of the slow burned delight.  Easy to flow to. 

I wanted atmosphere here.  In my continuing quest of the "good groove", this one dictated slow and steady.  I was able to layer in a variety rhythm and soundz.  Sometimes you gotta bring the groove down, so you can "knotch-up the funk".  Feel me on that?!!

Throwback time...this is for the deep-groove soldiers.  "Low Tech-Hi Drive" is a familiar nod to the 90s dance crowd (after the club).  When you just wanna groove and there aint no use in holding in your energies.  Wind down music.

Nice solid rhodes-chords, wah-wah guitars and a deep bass-groove, with an unstoppable back beat.  This is understated but rising to the dance vibe groove.
