After a strong run of releases on Secret Fusion, Nothing Is Real, and Sprechen earlier this year, NYC-based producer Evan Michael now lands on HIFI/LOFI Records with his Modern Life EP — a forward-thinking five-track journey that drifts from dreamy house to cosmic indie dance, with subtle shades of melancholy woven throughout.

Having spent the past decade deeply immersed in New York’s nightlife, Evan has supported many of the city’s most vital independent clubs while absorbing their eclectic soundscapes. That experience has sharpened his ear for house and techno — a sensibility he now channels into productions that move seamlessly between retroism and futurism, all in his uniquely personal way.

The release is elevated by standout remixes from trailblazer Maruwa, a Robert Johnson club resident whose rising profile spans releases on Steel City Dance Discs and X‑Kalay, delivering a deeper, more minimalistic, and irresistibly groovy reinterpretation of the original.
