Noctambulism

Ambient piece inspired by the king of board games — and the only one I’ve ever really played: chess.

Inspired by J.L. Borges’ poems Ajedrez I & II, where the chessboard becomes a battlefield, I wanted to give this piece a quietly epic atmosphere.

Two first-take improvisations: electric bass, processed through my pedalboard, followed by a piano improvisation over it.

A simple, spontaneous piece.

A solo felt piano piece with a melodic, neoclassical character, surrounded by a very subtle treated soundscape.

A reworking of my earlier electric bass improvisation Chanson 15072026  (https://soundcloud.com/daniel-diaz/chanson-15072026)— the original music (chords/melody) transferred to piano, with only occasional traces of the original soundscape remaining underneath.
