Set to music as a modern Australian bush ballad with a touch of Scottish soul, it preserves every word of Marian’s original verse. The song recalls echoes of childhood, family life, and the memories of a homestead once filled with laughter and love.

Although the house itself was long ago removed, the great tree that Marian described still stands today — a living sentinel on the border between Wallan East and Upper Plenty, marking the site of the original family home.
