Born in Brooklyn, New York, Derick Cotten - more popularly known as “HD” for his High Definition musical styling in both production and presentation, is a young artist on the verge of breaking through his glass ceiling. HD celebrates his God given talents in the areas of music production and composition. Born with an ear for music, for the last 12 years he has worked to fine-tune that gift by being self-taught in making beats. His artistry was quickly recognized and contracted by Blyak Family Entertainment (http://www.blyakfamilyent.com/); Cook-up Records and Back at Ya Productions, B.F.C, Marvel Us ent.
In an effort to stay close to his first love – music; HD found various ways to keep music relevant in his life. He became an event promoter for events where music was the central focus. He promoted for Street Rap Promotions and Dirty Dozens – both of Virginia. He became the lead DJ for Simply Chic Events, LLC (http://chic-inc.com/). In addition, he worked with the Ghettonerd Production Company (http://www.ghettonerd.com/) and actually played a role in the R&B artist Ginuwine’s latest video “What Could’ve Been”. He is seen in the video and was also part of the event planning team (Simply Chic Events, LLC) who styled the video set and served as the artistic director for the video.
All of HD’s hard work is preparing him to make music for the likes of some of his favorite artist including: Jadakiss, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Eminem, Buster Rhymes and Ludacris. He is also planning to assist with the expansion of Organyzed Micz. His ultimate goal is to land a distribution deal that will allow his music to be known around the world and his talent to be recognized by the music industry. He hopes that in his rise in the industry that he develops artist to rise with him.
HD brings a dedication to his music, his craft and his artist like no other. His thirst to continue to increase his knowledge in the game, and to fine tune his talent with both music, artist development and event planning will keep him motivated to continue to stay close to his first love – music, in high definition…
