Silvan Headlands

As silence settles once again
A fragrance in the air respirates 
The scent of pine resin sustained
Sour rawness of fresh cut states.

A short-lived peace returns
To these silvan headlands old.

These are the sweet sounds 
of plant spirits returning.

As we move through bramble,
Berry, bear’s hair and briar
Along untrodden paths we ramble
Escape from the machine’s loud blare

Cross the far lost headlands reaching
Approach to an endless chaos of waves
Just beyond these quiet groves’ teachings
The wordless Oak and Cedar enclaves.

A short-lived peace returns
To these silvan headlands old.

These are the ancient sounds 
of plant spirits returning.

In these quiet forested fingers,
Criss-crossed by tumble-foaming
Glistening and ruminating rivers
The blood waters are babble roaming.

Synapse blossoms catch angled beams
from a distant weeping canopy
Above headland’s intercoursing streams
Twixt mystery and annihilation are we.

A short-lived peace returns
To these silvan headlands old.

These are the eternal sounds 
of plant spirits returning.

To the rear, we turn together, in wonder
Meet the fumes of oil and steel
The razing of the wilderness plundered
Arrogant, as Earth’s skin we peal.

04 - Silvan Headlands

This is a new concept I'm trying out; A poem within a poem. I think it offers an interesting dynamic. Hope you like it.

Lyrics: 
In my dreams i lose the concept of time, its something that i don't really mind because its gonna take me a while to find out everything about you that i can, from the gentle touch of your hands to your toes in the sand of this beach devoid of reality, these brief moments that you've given me have brought me to the brink of insanity, but i simply don't care; your hair swaying with the wind, our beating hearts making up the only sound in between whispers that carry secrets too heavy to be heard aloud. 

You see, in my dreams every touch is gentle and warm, every kiss is filled with bliss, and every word that you say plays back in my head like the most beautiful song; and i struggle to hold on to the memories of the days where we laughed and played under the soft white bed sheets, the sweet smell of your perfume as you entered the room, those times where we would lay beside each other and smile as we stared at the moon, wondering if it was looking back at us and smiling too. 
In my dreams, forever never seems quite long enough. 
So if this is all the time we have, just don't wake me up. 
But in case you truly cant stay, ill leave you with a final poem:

"find me beneath the porcelain stars, amongst fragments of memories that define who we are,
touch me like a snowflake grazes a cheek, feel me like warm sand sinking under your feet,
And like lights that adorn the edges of streets, we touch the hearts of others as they pass through;
People will come in to our lives and eventually they'll leave, but what always remains...is how they changed you."

"In My Dreams" - A Spoken Word Poem

LYRICS
"Baby, tell me something; how many times have you had your heart broken? How many times have you had your faith stolen?, by these guys that promise you everything, only to find that behind their clever lies and disguise they seem to have fooled you. Schooled you, into thinking that you finally found the one, your soulmate, you feel your fate has been decided, and then they leave..and you're alone again, wiping the tears off onto your sleeve. 

How many times have you been unable to sleep because the one man that you thought you'd keep forever isn't by your side. You try and close your eyes but all you see are memories, hidden deep within the crevices of your soul are stories unforetold, visions of growing old together, visions of your hands intertwined, walking barefoot through the sands of time for what you feel feels like forever.

You lie there and fantasize about the familiar smell of his cologne, only to find that it makes you feel more alone than ever. You start to cry but it doesn't help, the tears flow down and you wish that they would drown all the pain you feel, but you soon realize that tears just make the pain feel even more real.

Your friends tell you that you need to let go, and lord knows you've tried. But regret still occupies the space between your arms where he used to lie. It's strange how much pain a broken heart can make, the same emotions it gives, it can also take. Feelings of sickness that linger long into the night; too bad there's no medication for heartbreak.

Listen, you think you're alone but you're not, its not about what you want, its about what you've got. Reach deep into your soul and pull out that strength thats been hiding inside all this time, and soon you'll find that your state of mind will change for the better, you can ride out this tough weather; and when the rain has passed and the wind has amassed to just a gentle breeze, you'll find...that pain is like the tides of the ocean -it comes and it goes. Just take it slow, and soon your heart will grow back to what it once was, you'll pick up the pieces of all those broken dreams and although it might seem tough to pick yourself up from that hole you've fallen into...Never lose faith that someday you'll get what you deserve. Someday someone will love you so much that they'll give you the world. 
And maybe then, youll forget all those times you had your heart broken.
