We are pleased to present the third episode of the new season of terrorcast, which has become a full-length two-hour story. Its author was Ømen, a French-Italian producer and DJ, co-founder and resident at the London based techno event/label MASS. 
In these two hours, you will fully experience his passion for darker shades of techno and his skillful ability to combine a raw and aggressive sound with melancholic melodies.

We asked the musician a few questions so that you can get to know our new guest better.

Big part:

1. Why Ømen?
An Omen is defined as an event regarded as a portent of good or evil. I felt that this definition characterised my musical influences and style well while also illustrating the reality of life, that it can be filled with joy or immense pain. I also chose Ømen due to its religious connotation and the irony of utilising a religious symbol in relation to a genre and scene often described as ‘blasphemous’. I often incorporate mystical, esoteric, and religious sounds into my productions and therefore felt it was a suitable name that encapsulated well what I represent as an artist.

2. Work/life balance: how do you combine?
This is the toughest part. Beside music I also follow my other passion of working in the mental health sector supporting people in their recovery journey. Balancing my Ømen projects, my event and label MASS, and work means a lot of organisation, planning, and compromises. 

3. What inspires you?
Emotion. I believe that what makes music truly special is the connection it evokes amongst people, the emotions, and the memories that it can provoke. I tend to be driven by the way a track makes me feel and aim to turn that into a story to share amongst my audience.

4. Do you go to clubs to relax or just work?
Mainly to relax, but it is also part of work as it is important to gain inspiration from the dance floor, to connect to the energy that is so unique to the clubbing and rave scene, and to network with people too. 

5. If Bristol is the capital of trip hop, then what is the sound of London?
London is vast and has had an immense influence on music, which is what attracted me to move to this city originally. London is arguably one of the birthplaces of classic & punk rock, and has heavily influenced or pioneered other genres including the likes of grime, acid techno, drum & bass, jungle, dub, UK garage, jazz, classical music, and many others. 

6. What advice would you like to receive at the beginning of your career?
Practice consistently, strive for continuous improvement and never give up. I feel we can be our own worst enemy at times when striving for perfection. Remember that this is a process that takes time and that failure is part of the journey.

7. If you knew that you were playing your last set, what track would you finish with?
Ømen - Happy Sadness
