'BOHO's record label, Jannowitz drops a dark and driving debut album from Blake Strange who's a talented peak time techno artist from Sydney, Australia.

Blake Strange is well known within the Australian club scene, and his style switches between epic melodic house and thundering techno. This album showcases the harder side of his sound, but he has also dropped deeper tracks via labels such as Oliver Koletzki's Stil Vor Talent.

Jannowitz is a prolific record label and Blake Strange is part of a roster that also includes people ranging from Teenage Mutants to Alex Stein. This is Blake Strange's second time on Jannowitz, following up from the Phantom EP he released at the start of 2023.

The album features a total of nine tracks, including five solo originals by Blake Strange alongside collaborations with Jakob, Rad.Lez and BOHO. There are two separate remixes on the album provided by Mr. Bizz and Mala Ika.

Mr. Bizz are an Italian duo with an eclectic style and they deliver a melodic techno remix in the style they have released via Katermukke and Yoshitoshi. They have also featured techno tracks on labels such as Dubfire's SCI+TEC, Monika Kruse's Terminal M and Sian's Octopus.

Mala Ika is a melodic house artist from France whose style orientates around indie dance, but also touches on other melodic genres. Her upbeat remix is in the style she has featured on Watergate Records plus her own Weirdos Records.

Opening the release is the collaboration with BOHO called "Alter Ego" which fuses rumbling sub-bass with gritty synths that create a dystopian atmosphere. Second is the collaboration with Rad.Lez titled "Push" and it's a throbbing techno track that builds towards an epic breakdown before the drums slam back in.

"Velvet Eyes" lifts the intensity with its eerie atmospherics and arpeggio that ripples with electrifying tones. The fourth track is the Mr. Bizz remix of Push, which adds a more relaxed bassline and soaring synths to the original to create an expansive version with an epic sound.

"Finders Keepers" is an unnerving track with haunting sound design layered over a pounding kick drum. The sixth track is Mala Ika's remix of Alter Ego, which adds fluttering melody synths to create a twisted euphoria and uplifting vibe that she underpins with the energetic flow of a new bassline.

"Arrival" increases the tension before the ominous vocals and a speaker tearing synths of "Obey". Track eight is the collaboration with Jakob titled "Nightcrawler" and it's got a pulsating bassline and shadowy atmosphere.

All the original tracks have driving percussion and a stripped back sound design with sweeping synths shrouded in dark atmosphere.'

Tony H and Swavé follows up the success "She Moves The World" with a full-scale remix EP on Desert Hearts Records! They have invited some of their favourite artists to do their own interpretations of this energetic tune, and the result is 3 different four-to-the-floor, dance floor oriented tunes. First up, Franklyn Watts moves us smoothly in a housy direction. Catchy drum work meets dreamy vocals and sweeping chords, excellently showcasing the style Franklyn is so loved for. 

Mary Droppinz does what Mary does best. A fierce and driving rework takes the stage, building some proper momentum before deep diving into the breaky groove. Last but not least, Thomas Garcia serves us a bouncing remix with a lot of cheeky attitude. His techy style shines as he creates a soundscape that beautifully works around the elements of the original, blending them with his own, characteristic sounds. This release is an excellent showcase of some of the most exciting artists in the electronic music scene at the moment, each serving their very own sound of "She Moves The World".

JOHN TEJADA then cruises calmly at the desired cruising altitude while the cabin crew serves refreshments. ‘Duration’ by BARNT/MAYER pays tribute to an artist formerly known as Prince with grand rave romanticism, and about REX THE DOG’s summer smash hit ‘Change This Pain For Ecstasy’, there’s really nothing more to say. The Thuringian force of nature ROBAG WRUHME must not be missing here, of course. ‘Fire’ once again shows him in top form, with one of the dirtiest basslines in techno history. Oliver Huntemann - Schwarzlicht & Filmriss
Direct yet sophisticated, brutal yet refined, physical yet cerebral: opposites collide to perfection on this latest transmission from one of Hamburg's finest exports and a bona fide techno legend - Oliver Huntemann. Here, he returns to his very own Senso imprint with two massive tracks aimed firmly at the floor.
The airy feel of 'Schwarzlicht' with its simple kick-less beat and intricate, textured woodblocks gives way to an imposing, thorax-rattling low end that's felt as much as heard. Precision-engineered for a big system, the pitch-bent bass twists around itself like a contortionist in chains, while above, brittle piercing stabs pulse and ping.
On the flipside, the slamming kick and buzzing repetitions of 'Filmriss' cast a dark, edgy vibe. A pitched-up pulse - as if a string is being slowly tightened to breaking point - makes way for a monstrous sub bass. Deeply accomplished, these tracks are ample testimony to Huntemann's two-decade stint at techno's cutting edge.

Hidden Empire and Channel X go back to back productionwise and set off a joint release with 6 original dancefloorready compositions. Apocalyptic vocals proclaim (This is) 'Not the End' in the analogously entitled track, triggering the release on a dynamic and fast paced tone. With a playful groove laden with descending synths, the piece buzzes along on a backdrop of alternating noise leads.
'Dinosaurs in Space' evokes a far away land through cavernous soundscapes and metallic rattles, ranking as the series’ most spacious sounding cut. Pairing mechanical subsynths with high pitched bits and blobs, 'Elephants & Ants' plays on contrasting elements as the murky melody unfolds in a steadfast fashion. After mainly focusing on their live performance.

Channel X return to the studio to dole out a matching set of three aptly crafted arrangements. An amalgamation of shadowy soundframes make up 'Before Midnight', a deep tech exploration complemented by matchingly eerie vocals.
Spirited synths and a boiling bassline are the central tenets of 'Lift off', as the melody rolls out gradually. 'Waves' brings together slices of undulating synths and wobbly sound articulations, all in an upwinding manner. With a groovy vocal sample, the track deftly morphs into a movementinducing frenzy.

If it's possible to say this, title track 'Captain My Captain' is actually the more restrained and studied of the three - featuring vocals written and recorded by Los Angeles based studio vocalist and label freund Cari Golden, who also wrote and performed the vocals on Anja Schneider's recent release for the Hi Five! mobilee compilation 'Something Left'.
