Magician On Duty & Dario Klein Release Epic 7-Hour b2b DJ set recording from Zum Scheuen Reh, Cologne

In a spontaneous and electrifying turn of events, Magician On Duty and Dario Klein have unveiled the full recording of their unforgettable 7-hour b2b DJ set from this September at Zum Scheuen Reh, Cologne. This rare marathon set captures two artists in their creative element, free from the usual time constraints and expectations that come with typical club or festival performances.

"For me, as an artist, it's a gift to play for such a long time without any limits on creativity," said Magician On Duty. "What unfolded that night was pure magic – just two friends exploring new sounds and feeding off the energy of an incredible crowd."

The set, which zigzags through a wide range of musical genres, reflects the duo's deep connection with both the audience and each other. "Most of the time, the magic happens when there's no plan," continued Magician On Duty. "We simply followed the vibe of the room and trusted the process."

Listeners can expect a wild ride through uncharted sonic territories, with tracks that might never see the light of day in a traditional club setting. It's an exploration of music without boundaries – and a rare glimpse into the art of DJing without a map.

What an unforgettable night at the Mishawaka celebrating 25 years of us making music together! 🌟 This venue holds a special place in our hearts—there’s nothing like playing outdoors, next to the river, under the stars. We were blessed with beautiful souls and fans who came out to make this anniversary show truly magical. Huge gratitude to Bloomurian and the folktronica duo Siren & Seer for opening the night with such mesmerizing vibes. We were thrilled to dive deep into an extended 2-hour set for everyone! Composed during a brief return to NZ in 2023 during an untimely visa debacle, J Plates joins forces with Hamilton City Junglist: DJ Paradise | @djparadise07 (Backlash Records | @backlashrecordsuk) to bring a selection of thought provoking Jungle tracks hot off the heels of it’s predecessor ‘It’s Not Over EP', released earlier in the year.

Lead single ‘You & Me’ establishes the senses with immediate surroundings of nature, fluid vocal movements, and a dreamlike sub-consciousness that weaves throughout the arrangement.

B side ‘Get A Rush’ follows next, featuring a complexity of layered pad & synth lines; it’s developing melodic elements evoking a tempered nostalgia, while it’s brooding bass line holds it all together.

Closing number ‘Dance Tonight’ picks up the pace with it’s frantic drum work & euphoric vocal chops; delivering a more melancholic contrast with it’s varied synth elements drifting throughout.

Desert Dwellers is a pioneering electronic music project that bridges the ancient and the future, fusing deep bass, world instrumentation, and psychedelic textures into immersive sonic journeys. Founded in 1999 by Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, the project grew out of the legendary Moontribe gatherings in the deserts of Southern California and Santa Fe, New Mexicos desert rave scene. 

Blending influences from many genres, Desert Dwellers has released dozens of albums and remixes, toured across five continents, and collaborated with an eclectic array of artists from around the world. Their music has graced stages at Symbiosis, Ozora, Lightning in a Bottle, Boom, Envision, Shambhala, and Burning Man, resonating with audiences through both meditative journeys and powerful dancefloor experiences.

In 2026, Desert Dwellers will enter its most significant evolution yet. Co-founder Amani Friend will be stepping away from touring to focus on studio production and other creative pursuits, while a new collaborator joined the project, acclaimed producer and mixing/mastering engineer Sarkis Mikael. While continuing to honor the project’s signature sound and ethos “Music Beyond Borders,” Desert Dwellers is now expanding into bold new sonic territories. Sarkis, with releases on respected labels like Sol Selectas, Saisons, and Hoomidaas, brings a fresh creative spark and deep musical integrity.
