Section Records makes a welcome return in November 2012 after a busy year behind the scenes to bring you the hotly-anticipated CD album from Russian downtempo duo Koan.  Entitled “Argonautica”, the album showcases these remarkable Russian storytellers in a seamless 78-minute flow of pristine production and heavyweight emotion.

Inspired by Jason's quest to find the Golden Fleece with his band of heroes on the Argo, the album is shrouded in ancient Greek mystery and takes the listener on a journey as rich and profound as the legend that kindled its creation.

Composer Daniel Roeth's musicality and emotional connection with the music is evident from the first movements on the opening track Orpheus and Eurydice, and blossoms with creative direction from co-producer William Grey as the listener is taken through an ultra-melodic landscape which balances cutting-edge synth lines, intricate beats and ancient atmospheres with perfect precision, all the time underpinned by the rich and round basslines which Koan have made a trademark of their sound. Each track stands on its own as a masterclass in psychedelic downtempo music – there's no filler here, just 9 pieces of perfectly-crafted melody and cadence linked by a common thread. Listened as a whole, Argonautica is a neo-classical epic rich in melody and meaning, inviting the listener on an 80-minute flight in the company of gods, nymphs and creatures long since exiled to the realm of legend.

With mastering and artwork duties carried out by Nick Brennan aka Tripswitch, the CD digipack presents this mythical opus in an elegant package which evokes its ancient subject matter from the moment you take it out of the wrapping.

Drumming and music production have always lived in separate worlds of Morillo’s musical journey. Taking a big step in tethering the two together, Morillo returns to Gravitas Recordings with his latest album, Shades of Green. During quarantine, Morillo prioritized the ability to properly record and incorporate acoustic drums into his production from his Los Angeles studio. From there, he dedicated his energy into tuning and refurbishing his drum kit, acquiring necessary recording gear, and learning engineering skills to translate it into production. The result was a fresh aesthetic diverging from strictly electronic sounds, empowering a live and more human aspect to his music. Shades of Green is a hypnotic, handmade small-batch record that dives deep into organic soundscapes to move listeners spiritually and physically.



“Badmon Sound” plunges into the depths of wicked acoustic territories as sirens apprise their warning. Featuring Evan Hatfield on Sitar, the two whisper deep “Secrets” into the cosmos before Meg Gardner closes the tune with original spoken word poetry. In collaboration with Canadian bass producer PRZM, “Champion Sound” is a lush excursion through funky reggae territories. Los Angeles singer Talia Bentson soon whisks listeners to an ethereal, yet dark “Dreamland.” Ticking clocks precede a royal dubby coronation in “King of Kings.” Title track “Shades of Green'' inhabits a meditative jungle, isolated from the busy metropolis. Featuring Los Angeles producer DanniG, “One$$” delivers fresh soundscapes between dominant bass waves and electrifying drum patterns. Heartfelt and zestful energy in “Rain and Mist” hydrates nature’s spirits, concluding the vibrant album.

Desert Dwellers is a pioneering electronic music project that bridges the ancient and the future, fusing deep bass, world instrumentation, and psychedelic textures into immersive sonic journeys. Founded in 1999 by Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, the project grew out of the legendary Moontribe gatherings in the deserts of Southern California and Santa Fe, New Mexicos desert rave scene. 

Blending influences from many genres, Desert Dwellers has released dozens of albums and remixes, toured across five continents, and collaborated with an eclectic array of artists from around the world. Their music has graced stages at Symbiosis, Ozora, Lightning in a Bottle, Boom, Envision, Shambhala, and Burning Man, resonating with audiences through both meditative journeys and powerful dancefloor experiences.

In 2026, Desert Dwellers will enter its most significant evolution yet. Co-founder Amani Friend will be stepping away from touring to focus on studio production and other creative pursuits, while a new collaborator joined the project, acclaimed producer and mixing/mastering engineer Sarkis Mikael. While continuing to honor the project’s signature sound and ethos “Music Beyond Borders,” Desert Dwellers is now expanding into bold new sonic territories. Sarkis, with releases on respected labels like Sol Selectas, Saisons, and Hoomidaas, brings a fresh creative spark and deep musical integrity.
