An example of what an ensemble of these single stringed drone instruments would sound like arranged in Ableton.

MonoLute, first finished version. Laser cut birch plywood structure covered with resin-impregnated polyester/spandex fabric, one flat wound guitar string, and motorised bow wheel. When a button on the cylinder holding the motor is pressed, a wooden wheel turns which mechanically excites the string producing a sustained drone. It is imagined that dozens of these played by performers walking through architectural space would excite variable acoustic room responses over time in relation to static audience listeners. This instrument and associated prototypes, documentation and audio made during the FabLab Limerick Future Artist Maker summer bootcamp in July 2016 will be exhibited in the Nerve Centre Visual Derry from Saturday 26th November.
