Apostolis Loussis aka Plecta was born in 1986 and he lives in Athens. He has been involved with music since his childhood. At the young age of ten, he began his education in music with the guitar, but his passion slowly began to steer towards electronic music and the desire to compose such music.He is influenced by a huge range of sound colours throughout the electronic music scene. Completely self taught, over the years, his music creations increased even more. Doing composing, he realised Deep House music as organic , dreamy, melodic sounds were his spirit of energy and passion became the “signature” of Plecta’s musical compositions. His passion continues to drive him and be the main force behind his music. At the past, he has made several releases to other types of electronic music such as Techno, Minimal and more. However, the Deep House music is the one that eventually drew his attention. Inspired by new music ideas, his journey begins, giving a natural and electronic sound at his music creations and pushing his limits a step further.

“Realizing people connecting themselves through electronic music. That was the wake up call I couldn’t ignore. I guess there’s something about the many infinite possibilities and combinations on each and every detail of a track, and how they can affect people’s feelings and create moments…that moves and fascinates me, for sure. It’s something equal to a purpose, or a meaning of life, if you like to put it that way.”

Awka’s enlightening discovery was nothing but a first glance about what would come to change his life forever.

Expression was definitely a burden to Awka as ordinary ways of communication just never seemed enough. As time went by, this need connect with others became an obsession and a search, in which digging new and old records could be a relief or a clue. By coincidence or fate, at the age of 15 Awka moved to Munich and got in touch with german electronic music culture, making the first contact with synthesizers and experimenting a whole new world of different music styles.

A blended and unique cultural background was not the only result of this life and art experience. Finally, Awka found the means to reach out to others and to get his voice heard. It was clear the words were and couldn’t be enough as what was there to be said couldn’t be understood, but only felt.

Back to his home town, in Rio de Janeiro, Awka’s plans finally came out of paper as his career had it’s definitive start. After a few solo presentations, Awka formed the “Tenth Column” duo, which’s talent lead to the famous label party RIO ME residency and to performances on renowned gigs such as D-EDGE, Club 88, Warung Tour and RAWW X ROOM.

On his current solo career Awka has been part of the crew that delivered the greatest electronic music carnival party ever seen in Rio - The “Bloco Ame”, also being a flashy name in Warung Closing Summer 2019, meeting Edu Schwartz, who would soon become his actual partner in starting his new label: Words Not Enough.

Awka’s purpose is now fulfilled through his tracks and productions. On a new phase, his ways of connection are being reproduced by exponential labels such as Akbal Music, Lump Records, Pipe & Pochet, Seven Villas e Warung Recordings. Not to mention his 2 reinterpretations on the english band “Elder Island” tracks, which together sum up to 500 thousand plays on spotify.

This is a mix I made after far too long away from the decks.  

I now have a career that’s drawing me in, a little further away from the music that makes my heart sing.

But this is something that helped me feel connected to the music once again.   I played this only in my headphones, in the rain, under the canopy of a house my mom’s husband purchased and intended to live in for decades before he died suddenly. 

COVID has brought untold pain and loss to the world, and it’s up to us to try to (safely) bring it back to life!
