The next release from Des McMahon marks the start of a new beginning: since relocating from Los Angeles back to his hometown in Philadelphia, he explores the details of disparity on Loosehead / Tighthead. Representing opposite ends of the drum and bass spectrum, Loosehead / Tighthead act as yin and yang, offering the best of both worlds in one palatable package.

First up, Des delivers a hypnotic roller to get your body moving: “Loosehead” was built on a robust foundation despite its meditative flavor, and the result is soothing yet juxtaposed with grit. Ideal for losing yourself all night long on the dancefloor, “Loosehead” satisfies the mind, body, and soul.

On the B-side, McMahon gets sinister on “Tighthead.” Constructed with heavy distortion and technical elements, “Tighthead” pulls the listener into murky waters and instills the feeling that there’s no way out. Despite its heavy approach, Des McMahon doesn’t ignore the art of the flow in this knockout tune.

Des McMahon - Broken

Washington D.C. based Des McMahon adds a unique blend of gunpowder and diesel fuel, as well as a small amount of binary liquid vapor under extreme pressure for the propellant. This results in an almost rocket-like effect on the projectile, increasing muzzle velocity and penetrative capabilities. We here at the Ammo camp affectionately call this round Hyperfocused. A good alternative to the Hyperfocused round is the Dragonfly round, which features the same propellant mix, but with more space between the projectile and the multi-propellant mix, as well as a slightly softer brass mix on the projectile, and pancakes quite nicely. Dragonfly is essentially a high velocity hollow point and is optimal for unarmored targets, but the stopping power and effectiveness can't be beat.

The 118th release on Morrison Recordings is a wonderful remix package from one of Glenns recent singles, Lift The Veil featuring Universal Records signed rock band, The Envy. The success of the single released a couple months back warranted a remix package and so Glenn chose two very gifted producers to complement the package. Up first is the critically acclaimed musician, Paul Keeley. Having been lauded for his recent artist album and having had support from top jocks such as Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Above & Beyond and many more, his version of Lift The Veil is a gorgeous piano laden laid back house score that is rich with emotion and soul. On the flip side is Des McMahon, a budding new producer from Philadelphia who has had tons of support recently from Diplo, Tittsworth, Bro Safari and more for his outstanding bass heavy emotionally charged big beat music. Des spins Lift The Veil into another realm with fat percussion and a broken beat that would absolutely tear up a sound system at a big venue or festival. A great release that we are proud to share with you and enjoy!!!
