Following up on their first fruitful collaboration from 2019 yielding the „Push It To The Limit“ fruit, QO & Trilo have teamed up again in the studio to deliver a worthy successor.

Kicking things off with an electrifying intro full of pulsating pads and vicious riffs, you can already feel things are gonna get nasty as soon as the massive kick drums make their way into the mix. But it’s very much like knowing something is out there waiting for you. What good does it really make when you don’t know when and what is actually gonna strike you, right? And as much as you were expecting it and trying to prepare for it, you couldn’t have get yourself ready to face such a face-melting beast of a drop that jumps at you here.

Dirty menacing bassline, militant drums and all kinds of foul growls are the name of the game here. And if that already wasn’t enough for you and you would somehow miraculously make it through the first attack, just you wait for it to come back at you again.

This beast is hungry and it’s not gonna give up, so you just might as well „Turn It Up“!

The GRAVE DIGGER sighed as he planted his shovel firmly into the muddy soil of a new plot in the cemetery, exhausted from the endless toil that had been forced upon those of his profession.Though it had only been days since an outbreak of a strange new disease had swept over the city, it felt as though an eternity had passed. The countless graves that had been dug now threatened to merge beneath his feet, their dividing walls weakened by the torrential rains that seemed to swirl endlessly in the sky above and the space between each had begun to shrink out of necessity. Under these rains it seemed the work could never end, for the graves never truly settled. Many had been found eroded by the flooding, revealing the contorted and rotted forms of their inhabitants which jutted through the sludge at odd angles. Indeed, so heavily did it seem to pour that some graves remained empty after the night, the corpses formerly within them unable to be accounted for amidst the inundated ground. 

For all the years he had spent in this position, the GRAVE DIGGER had not seen a worse combination of conditions. It felt as though the world itself was conspiring against the inhabitants of his city, who could scarcely see their dead who had been with them in life merely hours ago. He expected to join them soon enough, having handled the corpses of those who had passed for days on end. Perhaps, he mused, he already had. With so many empty graves, and no bodies to be found, who was to say that one wasn’t his? Where had he been before this had begun? Memory hardly seemed to matter anymore. If the dead truly did shamble among the living within this cursed city, perhaps he should count himself lucky to be amongst those who lived on in death above the ground.

Amidst a vast lattice of cable & wire, a sole individual worked with inhuman fervour at his craft, bearing forth a constant flow of invention unto the dismal depths of his laboratory. He had sequestered himself here in this catacomb of creation with single-minded purpose, devoted entirely to a code of his own as he endeavoured towards all that had not been done before. Without thought for life or limb he set himself frantically to his craft. Before him, every vial was an opportunity, every electrical surge a moment of bliss, and every elemental synthesis a pathway forwards into the unknown.

For weeks, months, and even years the individual worked at a feverish pace, a hermit within an ever growing den of discarded reagents and the husks of former inventions repurposed for a greater cause. For all of his creations, such time alone had begun to take its toll upon the man, and as it marched on new thoughts came to his mind. “Escape....” came first, “I must show them the way” then came second, bearing upon him with an inescapable force. With his frenzy now turned outwards the inventor burst forth from the doors of his laboratory, clutching a variety of inventions in his grasp. Bathed in the light of the world beyond, the inventor sprinted into the street, shouting of his miracles as his SANITY TRIP drove his feet.

NUKLEAR debuts his first full artist EP on EATBRAIN with SANITY TRIP. Long known as a premiere MC within the neurofunk scene, NUKLEAR has appeared on multiple collaborations across EATBRAIN as well as RAM Records, Virus, and Viper. The fires of the NEUROPUNK FORGE alight once more with the arrival of the WARHEAD EP, the latest release from rising Russian duo DESPERSION on NEUROPUNK RECORDS. Established in 2017, the duo have seen previous releases on a variety of labels including Ignescent, 0101 and Kill Tomorrow, within which they have displayed their development of a style that blends complex melodic motifs with aggressive percussive and bassline sequences for a synthesis formed of these two often disparate sounds. Now making their NEUROPUNK RECORDS debut, DESPERSION deliver four tracks in this signature style to create the latest set of auditory weapons straight from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

Opened by the minor chords and arpeggios of the title track of the same name, the WARHEAD EP quickly erupts with low end weight leavened by the interspersion of melodic reprisals of its opening theme. The deceptively named PEACE which follows provides a slice of scathing neurofunk marked by the tonalities of the distorted hornlike synth that blasts above its rapidly moving bassline. OFFENSIVE next delivers an explosive barrage of transient percussive impacts that fall with perfectly planned precision amongst the tracks chaotic upper atmosphere. Closing the EP is I NEED YOU NOW, which departs from the hard charging energy of its predecessors to deliver a flowing vocal cut emblematic of DESPERSION’s melodic abilities.

With the WARHEAD EP, DESPERSION deliver a dynamic debut on NEUROPUNK RECORDS, showing a deft ability to craft beautiful melodic sequences and works of utmost sonic aggression in equal measure, marking themselves as a duo to watch as they emerge from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.
