Mala Ika is a French artist, DJ and producer - born and raised in Guadeloupe, and now based in Paris. Following stellar musical contributions to noted labels such as Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant, and quietly honing her craft throughout lockdown, she's emerged with the fifth edition of Dessert - Es Regnett ueberall.
Meaning "it's raining everywhere" in English, the title itself is misleading. Contained within Mala Ika's titular track and its package of three remixes is an abundance of light, motion and joyous expression. The lead track is a dynamic but slow burning dancefloor strider, tying early 90s house motifs to arpeggiated disco grooves, with a chopped vocal hook leading proceedings.

With the first remix is Alinka, known for previously penning tracks on Crosstown Rebels & Classic, who strips and reshapes the components of the original into a sturdy, versatile dancefloor tool.

Next up, Musumeci (Diynamic, Innervisions, Multinotes) serves up a punchy, powerhouse flip of the original, which he and Lehar used to work many dancefloors into a frenzy throughout pride month.

To close out, K7! Poker Flat and Exploited alumni Joyce Muniz takes it into altogether loftier territory, looping the vocal over the top of a warm, arpeggiated bassline, boosted to the brim with main-stage sonic energy.

Together, Es Regnett ueberall comprises four diverse but equally deadly rhythmic workouts, capable of conquering dancefloors and loosening limbs around the globe.

Joyce Muniz & Theus Mago’s feisty ‘Balin Bali’ Italo collaboration is a hot enough snack on its own, but with these two excellent new remixes it just got even tastier.

Marvin & Guy up the tempo to a pacey house bounce and lay on some gentle electro textures. Shimmering stabs fizz atop a galloping beat as relentless bass waves undulate propulsively. The synths unfurl further in the breakdown before the time-stretched vocal announces the drop, where a heady crescendo awaits us. Synth flutes add a mystical edge next as the track steps back into a more hypnotic groove.

French producer and Jennifer Caridni collaborator Damon Jee steps up next with an alternate Italo take on the original. The track builds slowly and with a moody edge as synths soar and snares hit hard over a chugging arpeggiated bassline, climaxing a dizzying breakdown which really gets the synapses firing. Slamming us back down into a sparse arrangement where that bassline rules all, the euphoria is snatched away from us suddenly in dramatic and very effective fashion.

Time for a family collaboration as Adana Twins link up with TAU mainstay Darlyn Vlys for a three-track excursion into a Distant Dream. Label heads Benjamin and Friso combine their creative talent with Darlyn’s similarly fertile mind, creating three tracks that embody the label’s diverse output. There are elements of techno, disco, electro and house present throughout this release, with an overall sonic aesthetic that is utterly captivating and fully representative of the TAU sound.

‘Distant Dream’ sets the tone with Krakow Loves Adana on vocals. Disco-esque beats and bass provide the backbone to this mesmerising cut, with Krakow’s voice peppering the intro. Once the track gets going, we’re treated to emotive songwriting alongside equally stirring arrange- ment. In particular, the main motif is sure to provoke an emotional charge on the dance floor. Beautifully composed.

Up next is ‘Phase One’, which kicks off with a minimal intro, building into pulsating rhythm and punchy beats. This driving cut engulfs you in its layers of alluring synth, as Adana Twins and Darlyn utilize the power of tension, along with a trusty modulated acid line. As the track progresses, it’s all encompassing energy will whisk you away into another dimension. Hold on to your hats for the huge breakdown...

Lastly, ‘Starwave’ features an oscillating b-line that will lock you into its grip straight away. Here, the progression is steady, with soothing pads washing over the low end and a heartrending melody providing the centerpiece of this moving composition. The Twins and Darlyn switch things up midway through, introducing an ominous synth line, before the breakdown guides us into the wondrous second half. A spellbinding end to this superb EP...

When a poster girl of Dark Disco and a defender of Indie Dance with a spiritual twist unite, the result can only be explosive. Vital Hungarian label Secret Fusion is back with a new package of leftfield sounds, this time from label heads Secret Factory with fresh remixes from Ditian and LERM.
Secret Fusion is well known as a legendary underground party that has been the best place to dance in Hungary for over 20 years. Since 2019, it has also been an experimental house, disco and techno label that is just as forward-thinking and essential thanks to the fine curation of label heads Secret Factory. They have a meticulously crafted and synth heavy sound that has taken them to labels like Diynamic and MoBlack and is perfectly exemplified by these two new cuts. The fantastic final original is 'Magnetic', a slow-burning mix of tangled synths and drums with crisp hits that come to life on big chords and explosive leads. A moody breakdown rebuilds the tension and when it drops again, the synths ride up and down the scales and take the floor into the next dimension. This is another forward-thinking package of well-designed electronic sounds from Secret Fusion.

Tel-Aviv-based artist Niv Ast debuts on Get Physical with a new single featuring M Love that gets remixed by Deer Jade.

Niv is inspired by the psychedelic waves of acid, the attitude of punk-rock and the lightheaded groove of disco.
He combines these in his mesmeric live show, playing around Europe with distorted guitars, ecstatic percussion and hypnotizing vocals wowing crowds. He has released on Disco Halal, Correspondant and Optimo Music and plays fabric the week before this single is released.

'Behind The Grace' is a broody mix of dark synths and deep rolling drums lit up by fluttering flute melodies.
They bring hope, energy and light as well as the feeling of a new day dawning in spring while the drums keep you locked below.
