Rising stars Pentatones, justly lauded for their distinctive blend of oblique pop, jazz-inflected electronica and languorous torch songs, receive the full Steve Bug treatment on Poker Flat's latest transmission: a meeting of minds that produces an utterly seductive dancefloor anthem. The original version of 'Karma Game' appears on the Pentatones album "Ouroboros" which will be released early 2015.

Distilling the original's haunting noir pop into a deep techno groove, Bug suspends tinkling chimes and tuned woodblocks around a gritty bass stab. A choir of siren voices follow, hauntingly layered as the tension builds and the riff tightens its grip on synapse and sinew alike. But all this is merely a prelude to the introduction of Delhia de France's vocals: a heartstring-pulling foil to Bug's intense repetitions, creating a heady blend that is deeply involving and instantly memorable.

An instrumental version gives harder-leaning DJs the chance to focus on the hypnotic riff and crisp, percussive touches that comprise the trademark Steve Bug sound, topping off a rich and unforgettable package.

Originally released under his former producer name MUNK. It sounds fresher now than back then, when it was too much ahead of its time.

This track works on any dance floor. It brings this special new school Italo vibe to every party. Made by Kapote back then when he was producing indie dance.
In case you don't know: Kapote used to produce music under the name MUNK and run an indie dance label called GOMMA. Back in the late 2000s he was producing music with LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, WhoMadeWho, The Rammellzee and others.  Now, Toy Tonics re-releases the song in a new version. Including remixes by Musumeci, Romain FX, Azari & III and Audiojack.

The album amasses an all star cast from across the board including the talents of Steve Bug, Martin Landsky, Clé, Redshape, Ribn, The Revenge, Deetron, Sasse, KiNK & Neville Watson and more. ‚Forward To The Past‘ takes in many of todays rising talents alongside faithful veterans of the scene. It‘s really a joy to hear how these top class producers, both vintage and modern, each add their own spin and re-interpret the sounds of the past. Opening the selection Steve Bug puts on his jackin‘ shoes in ‚Jack Is Back‘ - a classic Chicago jack-a-thon in the purest form. Martin Landsky continues the US-inspired journey with ‚V2U‘, the man is always on form! Bleep-infused moments come courtesy of the modern masters KiNK & Neville Watson, with ‚Nighttime Raw‘, while Sasse pumps out a seriously heavy windy city-styled attack in ‚Hot For You‘.

Much-loved newcomer The Revenge contributes ‚Elements of Fife‘, a slow grooving New York / Chicago crossover styled beauty. Then, in all out lush-chorded goodness, Ribn gives us their powerful ‚Pancake‘! Newblood Polus hit dead centre with a modern yet hauntingly reminiscent nighttime jam; ‚Patterns In The Dark‘, followed by Deetron‘s deep-bomb ‚The Maze‘ - an amazing journey through the smoke-filled labyrinth.

Berlin mainstay Clé takes us right back with his super funky ‚Feel It (Don‘t Cha Know)‘, warm and classy. Deepsters TJ Kong & Modular K give us their ‚Jack Shit‘ in a slow burning Chi-town acid groover. Cab Drivers return with a real classic-themed killer, ‚Shoulder Pad‘, that harks back to their 90‘s days, and finally the mighty Redshape gives us his darkly acidic ‚Funny Green Hat (Altered Mix), which seriously needs to be heard to be believed!!
