Destroy All Records are proud to present the outstanding seven-piece genre smashing band IKESTRA with their self-titled debut album available from Monday 25th March on digital, CD and 12“ vinyl formats. IKESTRA are 7 musicians from Leeds, originally formed in 2010 by Joe Harris after attending Leeds College of Music, IKESTRA have been through several personnel changes before settling on the current line-up in early 2011. The musicians have all been active in the Leeds music scene for years and share a mutual love of improvised music. IKESTRA is Sam Bell (percussion), Sam Gardner (drums), Henry Guy (Bass), Joe Harris (guitar), Tom Henry (keys/synths), Craig Scott (guitar) & Anna Stott (vocals). The band name relates to the oneness symbolised in the 'I' and is a tribute to Sun Ra's legendary Arkestra. IKESTRA members also play/played for: Haggis Horns, New Mastersounds, Shatner's Bassoon, Katy B, Natalie Duncan, Paper Tiger, Tommy Evans Orchestra, East Park Reggae Collective, Debian Blak, The Root One Band, Bugalu Foundation and Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra to name but a few.

Taking influence from and making nods towards multiple genres and international sounds while simultaneously surpassing them with a forward thinking attitude. Think Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew, Flying Lotus’ Los Angeles or Bonobo’s Black Sands. The music was written and rehearsed over a long 18 month period leading up to the recording. During this time IKESTRA began playing fortnightly gigs at Hukaz in Leeds which helped the band sharpen up their material. Each song involved a different writing process, but the overall result is composed music performed with visual cues and intense communication. After taking almost 2 years to write, the album was eventually recorded live at Soundworks studio, Leeds in just 2 days on the 4th and 5th Feb 2012. Lead guitarist Joe Harris spent numerous days and nights at the home of engineer and producer Tim Thomas in Armley where they mixed the album for the best part of a year. Tim having the skills, extensive knowledge of the music and the right set of ears made for a perfect collaboration. Once the album was mixed it was sent over to Kevin Metcalfe (Lee “Scratch” Perry, Sex Pistols, The White Stripes, David Bowie) at The Soundmasters for mastering.

They signed up with local independent record label and connoisseurs of the left-field music scene in Leeds, Destroy All Records to bring out their debut self-titled album. Highly unconventional in their musical approach, with interlocking rhythms that are quite astonishing to witness live. Crowds are incited to dance with album opener 'Dan Y Coed' and lead single 'Sprinter' while the slinky, psychedelic hip-hop groove of 'Mistakes' gives way to the intense math-rock freak out of ‘Lessons‘, serving to show how diverse this band are, no wonder they’ve recently caught the attention of BBC 6music DJ Giles Peterson. A brilliant introduction to a band that are surely one of the most talented yet unsung in the British alternative music scene.

Mahogany Hand Glider are back with their brand new 3-track EP ‘Bless The Fat’, a conceptually cosmic epic that sonically illustrates our obsession with space colonisation, our need to settle and create life beyond this small rock witch politely ponders it’s way around the sun. If Mahogany Hand Glider’s music is considered progressive and ambitious then too are the ideas they attempt to portray to their listeners. Inspired by the NASA paintings of the exocentric artist Donald Davis. Recorded at various places including the upstairs of The Library Pub and at the Destroy All Records home studio. Recorded and produced by Matthew Jaggar and mixed by Matt Deamer & Andy Edwards at Glide Studios. The EP took two and a half months to complete starting with the sparse electronic MIDI tracks as demos left a whole lot of room for experimentation and adding layer upon layer of instrumentation in the studio. 

Well Perched introduces itself with is terrestrially orientated Spanish melodies but soon takes off into the unknown with a vast array of different sounds and rhythmic dances until finally exploding in a revelling riot of noise and colour, as if all of planet earth’s musical cultures are being sucked into a worm hole at once. Terrain Station is perfect example of the band’s melodic sci-fi anthemia. Driving, hypnotic, playful and memorable. The metronomic Baulsa Erupt is the culmination of humanity’s efforts to propagate life and terraform in outer space. It gradually reveals itself over seven minutes of twists and turns, the percussive guitar plucks act like water droplets to encourage growth of xylems and neurones towards an ultimate blossoming. This is also the first time that Mahogany Hand Glider have implemented the human voice in the form of samples.

The EP will be available from Monday 29th April as a digital download and a special limited edition hand made silver rotary compact disc enclosed within a fold out compartment map, equipped with an exclusive inter-stellar pictorial poster illustrating both terrestrial and extraterrestrial human endeavours.

'Screaming Black And Blue' is the lead promo single from Godzilla Black's upcoming album 'The Great Terror'. The album is due for release on Destroy All Records on September 30th and will be available as a Digital Download/ Ltd. Edition Vinyl + Digital Download. 'The Great Terror' features a couple of very special guest appearances in the form of Melvins/ Nirvana/ Shrinebuilder drummer Dale Crover and Big Business/ Melvins' Toshi Kasai (working collaboratively as Deaf Nephews), along with guest vocals by Berlin/ London based performer Suki Osman.
