Introducing a deeply soothing Unrush mix from DOC - a producer, live act, and founder of Selene Series, whose sound I've been exploring since a friend connected us at this year's Mostra Festival.

For this mix, he delivers something truly special: a warm, comforting sound blanket which spans over almost 3 hours. Moving away from the more experimental edges he often explores, DOC has crafted a mix that feels like a gentle, unhurried stroll.

"Not every mix needs to be ‘a journey’. This mix is a stroll.

A stroll around that feeling of warmth, of tranquility, of comfort. A walk in circles around different iterations of beautiful music to soothe your senses. Because sometimes, the act of walking is the destination in itself. And when we are not going anywhere, just being for the sake of being, there is no rush. We are unrushed."

Wyrd Waves is a genre-defying journey through offbeat soundworlds, where melody meets experimentation and nothing stays the same for long. Each episode weaves a loose narrative through evolving textures, hybrid rhythms, and styles that slip between definitions.

I met Daniel at the Above Below Festival, set in the beautiful landscape of the Chiltern Hills. He played a wonderfully dubby set, and his style and selection caught my attention immediately.
As both an organizer of the festival and a writer for the Brooklyn-based platform Delayed, his passion for music and careful selection is unmistakable. And truly, no one can describe his set better than he can himself — so I’d like to share Dan’s own words with you.

This set was recorded in a remote barn in upstate New York, nestled amongst the Catskill hills. It was part of a music-centered and cosy getaway with the Delayed family and friends, held to embrace the change of season, and connect people across continents, having met online and on dancefloors.

Sunday is a special day for embracing stillness and sinking into the atmosphere. This one hour of selections became a special journey where time seemed to stop for me. I played for the warm souls I'd just spent the weekend with as they melted into the sofas around me. The set moves from delicate soundscapes, glitchy notes, warm chords, and keys to dusty vocals, galactic talk, and a groovy melody, but ultimately maintains softness and a sense of calm.

The preparation was fairly non-existent: I just dropped about 125 tracks onto a playlist I named very bluntly, 'This Sundayz.' It was a mix of old, new, and many I'd forgotten I even owned or what they sounded like. A path with multiple bends and nooks emerged, guided by a sense of nostalgia, mellow lighting, and a few spontaneous choices.
One track really stood out: "Farewell #7." I had forgotten when I bought it, but the vocals—"I miss you partner," followed by the response, "I miss you too"—made the emotion take over. I felt vulnerable, and a couple of tears graced my left cheek, as it was four years that week since I lost one of my dearest friends, Goose. He was right there with me in that moment, and it felt profound.
Trust the universe; it's got you. Just allow yourself to rise and fall with the times. Beauty is right around the corner, ready to surprise you when you least expect it.

I really hope you enjoy this mix—even if it’s just one track. It’s got a few things going on, so fingers crossed!
