I've been pretty busy lately with my first year at university and I've been working for Intel for a year now so I haven't had time to do much with music. In the past year, I decided to get more serious about music production and I've been studying and messing around with ideas for sound design, mixing, etc. Although I haven't reached a level of production that I'm satisfied with, I want to start pushing out more content because I do feel like I've improved substantially in the past few months.

I started this piece kinda as a meme but decided to finish it since it was kinda interesting. This most likely won't be my style going forward. Anyways, as usual, I read all comments so any feedback is welcome.

Color

Hello again,
I just finished my 2nd year of university so I finally have time to work on music again. Although I have not been very active, I've been putting time into messing around with audio and figuring stuff out and I think I have improved a lot since my last post. I still have a long way to go to get to where I want to be in terms of production quality but as always, I believe this is a step in the right direction.

Big thanks to Illuminasium for providing the vocals. I'm really lucky to be able to work with her. This piece heavily relies on her voice as an instrument and I got to do a lot of interesting vocal manipulation. I also focused a lot on spreading out attacks to increase their frequency and give the piece more energy in some sections. I had a lot of fun with sound design but I need to improve my mixing skills.

Hold Me (feat. Illuminasium)

This is a new project created for class but also for fun.

It has been a long time since I have uploaded but during that time, I have been steadily improving and have been figuring out what works and what doesn't. This is probably my best work yet and I hope to continue improving over time :D. It is an Asian themed piece.

Enjoy this melodic dubstep track.

Resonant Intellection

It's not been very long since my last upload for once. I mainly started working on this to continue improving my sound design skills but ended up making an entire song out of it that ended up using a lot of orchestral elements. I really enjoy this one and as always, I think I am improving with every song I create. Working at 160bpm gives the music a lot more energy which, for this piece, I really felt was important. I ended up drawing a 2d landscape for the artwork which was quite interesting. Also, experimenting a little with 8bit styled music was insightful. It's kinda strange how we normally think of something like a piano as the signature instrument but we can still achieve great sounding stuff with simple sounds like square waves. I also enjoyed making the CRT style while creating the video for my YT.
-Basically, I enjoyed everything hehe.

As always, I am looking for ways to improve so feedback would be nice :)

A Glimpse of Horizon

Welcome back! This is my first upload of 2020 :D
I have been focusing on really improving my production quality. You would think that the growth curve would be logarithmic but this project feels like a major jump compared to my previous projects. I spent a lot of time making sure that every part of the track sounded as perfect as it possibly could and although I fall short, I definitely feel like this is a new achievement. I got Phase Plant during the BF sale. It's a really powerful tool for sound design and I used it for all synthesized sounds in this project (made a few with 3xOsc). Using Phase Plant has been pretty interesting as it's a newer piece of software and there isn't a huge database of tutorials and pre-made sounds which means I have had to really apply the skills that I have learned over the years to create the sounds in this piece.
Thanks to Illuminasium for having faith in me and being patient even when I would ask her to re-sing a section or add a random bit every now and then as well as coming up with cool lyrics and melodies. Although she didn't work on the instrumental herself, her ideas and concepts are found throughout the entirety of the piece.

New song..

I've been pretty busy lately working on projects not related to music so I haven't uploaded for a while.

This was a fun project that we started a long time ago that I wanted to finish up. Again, I feel that I have improved my technique and my sense for what sounds right but I still probably have a lot more to improve upon. I'm thankful to Illuminasium for putting up with my indecisiveness and the slow rate at which I worked on the instrumental. Although I was the one who worked on the project in FL Studio, Illuminasium deserves credit for probably half the ideas in the instrumental as she came up with a lot cool ideas that I was able to integrate into it as I worked. I've found that working together with someone introduces an element of unknown which generates chaos. However, one can use that chaos to generate creativity and new ideas and that's what makes collabs like this so valuable. I hope to continue to work with her in the future.

Creating the artwork was also quite a new experience for me as I don't draw much but a lot of it ended up being freehand.
