Plenty of talk around Rick Wilhite seems to be how under-rated he is compared to his 3 Chairs peers Theo Parrish, Moodymann and Marcellus Pittman and Detroit compatriots. If he was from any other city in the world, the concept of being under-represented would be ludicrous for a producer of such stature and DJ of such capability, so let’s put aside perceptions and salute The Godson for what he is: a premier selector, curator and maker of music.

Recorded live from a bursting Night Cat, feel the sweat off the walls as two old friends & esteemed contemporaries showed out. Travelling through raw uptempo grooves, pulsing deep house, acid explorations and straight hard slapping techno, the two take it everywhere and back again - holding an enthused party in the palm of their hands.

While the sounds of this raucous crowd was not recorded, if you listen closely you can feel the palpable energy as the lightly audible noise of jubilated dancers come through the stylus. Jammed and hot from an hour in and thick til close, this is audio proof of the way two very perceptive DJs can grab hold and take you to higher places.

Here'z a very rare & raw mixtape of Ron Hardy live @ the Muzic Box with crowd noise. Man, Ronnie takes it everywhere as perusal. I would say this was the time he 1st played Phuture'z 'Acid Tracks' since he dropz Phuture'z 'Phuture Jacks' which was on side B of 'Acid Tracks'.
Anyhow, the only word that comes 2 mind while I listen 2 this tape is.... LEGEND.

Here'z a rare mixtape of Chicago'z legendary Armando Gallop on Radio FG in Paris, France. Another great DJ/Remixer/Producer gone 2 early. I do cherish our phone conversations. My Cuban brother was beyond cool!! He was about 2 prepare a mix for my then radio show on 91.5 FM WPRK... but unfortunately when he got back from Europe he ended up in the hospital & went 2 be with the Lord soon after.
