Rolfing Laid Back Volume 1

Passing Trains delivers impressive sounds of Express, Freight and Passenger trains that approach, pass, stop and pull out.
The recordings took place at several isolated spots in Saxon Switzerland near Dresden. This rock formation is cut by a river that formed a deep valley where the rails snake along.
Due to the complex reflections from the rock walls some of the included takes have amazing long tails of up 3 minutes. These tails sound like otherworldly swells of approaching iron and steel.

Passing Trains is organised into 6 sceneries. The Live Pack version includes 58 Clips and a Live Set, the Universal version contains standard WAV files.
Approaches and Stops / Express Trains / Freight Trains / Local Trains / Locomotives / Close Miking – impressive close ups taken with lavaliers and contact microphones that were attached directly at the rail.

Danish Bunker Coast library features mysterious and eerie sounds recorded in and around bunker relicts along the Danish West Coast.
The gathered ambiences form a comprehensive ressource of steady winds, heavy gusts, rustling undergrowths as well as single waves and strong surfs that constantly stream and break through these inhospitable areas with concrete remains all around.
The biggest part of the library was recorded inside the bunkers where the strong nature elements of wind and water are transformed into heavily comb filtered textures and dark atmospheres.

When Coast And Mountaintops Meet

The Cimbalom is a chordophone composed of a trapezoidal box with metal strings stretched across its top. It is commonly found throughout the Balkan states and in 1890 it was proclaimed the national instrument of Hungary. The instrument sampled for this library is a chromatic Schunda model from Budapest.
Cimbalom contains two fully sampled versions - a close-miked soft version with pronounced hits from the spoon-shaped felt hammers and a bright version that reveals the brilliance of the instrument. Both versions are based on chromatic multi-sample sets with velocity layers recorded stereo from top with adjustable mono signal from the bottom.

Farfiso Instrument Library features another goody from the early seventies. This purely analog stringer is a combination of a full polyphonic orchestral section and a monophonic synth section.
For the library all possible combinations of mono and poly presets have been sampled to a total of 49 Live Racks/Sample Sets that contain the original sounds.
The Farfiso Universal version delivers these presets in five industry standard formats that are compatible with the vast majority of current DAWs and software samplers.
Additionally the Live Pack version features 50 more Racks that form a colorful library of vintage sounds elevated to the present.

Distant City Ambiences features the sounds of the ever present noisefloor that it generated by a modern city.
I visited several spots around the hills along Dresden/Germany and recorded those noisefloors from a distance. I captured the audible aggressiveness that is compound by roaring engines, passing airplanes, trains and other acoustic emissions.
Especially the low-end in the frequency spectra is sometimes overwhelming.

Distant City Ambiences Sound Library

Urban Crows is a library full of interesting sounds of single crows and swarms.
These proud birds deserve a lot more attention than they usually get.
They are amazingly intelligent, social and by no means aggressive or monotonous when it comes to their communication capabilities.
The library evolved throughout winter 2015/16 and was taken from the attic of a house surrounded by trees that were frequently visited by the crows as a safe place to stay overnight. So it was a great pleasure to record them arriving in the evenings as well as hearing them chatting in the early morning hours before they left to the city again.
All takes are recorded in Mid-Side stereo, with Sennheiser MKH-70 shotgun for a strong mid-signal and AKG-C394B for the ambience.

Urban Crows Sound Library

Laundry Mangles is a library full of sounds from vintage machines that once where used in many public washhouses. In some locations they are in use even today. Basically, the weight of a huge box filled with stones was used to press big pieces of linen, bed sheets or towels wound on rollers below. Early models were operated by hand which was very exhausting and soon the machines were equipped with electric motors and belt drives.
This library delivers sounds from 5 different models of various ages that can be operated with crank shaft or electrical belt drive. All machines have been extensively recorded so that any imaginable perspective and operational state is covered. This inlcudes full runs with belt drive and crank shaft, protective grating handlings, idling motor and much more.

Chain Ferry features the remarkable sounds of a 100 year old ferry with a specific drive system. The ferry pulls along a strong chain lying at the ground of the river to cross. This is achieved by a clever combination of 3 drive wheels at the side of the ferry that prevent the chain from dropping to the ground.
The Library contains several complete audio takes of the ferry in action - from departure to arrival. This encompasses engine start, engine idle, loading ramp noises and bangs plus a lot of chain rattling from various perspectives. The sounds are recorded aboard and from both sides of the river so that the entire scenery can be covered acoustically.

Ambisonic Steam Train features recordings of 3 different narrow-gauge railways in Saxony/Germany where they meander through narrow valleys and bends.
The library includes various recordings taken directly at the train drivers position in the cabin as well as from wagon platforms and passenger seats. Also recordings of train pass-bys, shunting and service operations in the depot are included.
With the Ambisonic format it is guaranteed that the acoustically rich and diversified surroundings of steam trains in action are captured spherical in each and every detail.

Dumpster Truck (Skiploader) delivers the sounds of a DAF CF 75.310 mid-size truck that delivers open steel containers. They are mostly used to collect debris, junk or discarded furnishings. Once these containers filled up, the truck picks them up again to bring them to the suburban garbage dump.

The library contains many sounds of container dumps, noises from load chains and their locking mechanisms as well as sound from the truck itself. This encompasses interior, door slaps, air pressure system, wheel noises, 7.5l 310 hp engine, exhaust and much more.

Ambisonic City (Berlin) delivers a spherical surround sound image of a modern city in Western Europe. It features a vast variety of traffic sounds from vehicles, public transport trains, trams and airplanes that were captured at crowded intersections, various squares and arterial roads and the Tegel airport. As complementary counterpart the library also contains recordings from wide open spaces, recreation areas, public parks and side roads.
The recordings were made with the Sennheiser Ambisonic microphone and the encoded B-Format FuMa files are ready to use for speaker arrays of any number.

Coffee Shop features the acoustical surroundings of a cosy bar in the Old Town of a central European city.

Fiat Panda 169 sound library delivers vehicle sounds of a usual mass production car. The featured model was manufactured in late 2009 and has run about 40.000 miles at the time of recording. With the small 1.1 litre / 55 HP engine it is a lively compact size city car for daily use. The rear muffler already showed some rusty traces of age so that the entire car emits some very characteristic sounds, especially from the exhaust.
For the library the Panda was recorded to 18 takes with 6 onboard mics. These takes feature the car in various driving situations on asphalt, dirt road and gravel. Each take comes as Reaper set with time-aligned tracks from 2 mics in the engine bay, 2 interior mics, 1 wheelhouse and 1 exhaust microphone.
The exterior sounds – that encompass engine on, off, acceleration, approach, stop etc. – are recorded with Sennheiser MS Setup.
Additional foleys of doors, switches, wipers, windows, seat belts etc. are recorded separately with the car´s engine turned off.

Distant Trains Sound Library delivers impressive multi-channel recordings of trains that pass by in a distance of at least 300 meters up to 1.5 kilometres.
Included are pass bys of freight, commuter and passenger trains plus single locomotives.
In order to capture the impressive walls of sound caused by passing trains an arrangement of 6 microphones was used. This setup encompasses stereo-pairs of MKH3040-MS, MKH8090-ORTF and MKH8040-WideAB. All pairs are recorded to separate files that are now available as time-aligned Reaper sets.
Each recording session took place at nights so that it was possible to capture extremely long approaches and tails that fade out to natural and calm night ambience without any disturbance by road traffic or other unwanted noises.

This library delivers sounds of a vintage  tractor that was manufactured  in the communist part of Germany right after WWII.
The featured  model is a Famulus RS1436L from 1956. It has an air-cooled 2-cylinder diesel engine that generates 36 horsepower from 3.3l displacement. Due to the low operating speed of only 1600 rpm some of these engines are still running today.

For this particular library the Famulus was recorded from 7 onboard mics attached around engine, frame, rear wheels and exhaust. The Tractor performs cold start (with the second cylinder delaying), various manoeuvres at the yard as well as uphill and downhill drives along a hilly dirt road.
The library is completed by various exterior stereo takes that encompass idles, aways, approaches, pass-bys along windy farmland plus takes from the drivers perspective.

A Squeaky and Rumbling Railcar

Vintage Tram features sounds of a fully working light rail vehicle in small valley near Dresden/Germany. The 2-axle railcars were built from 1957 until 1967 with reference to concepts from the 1930s.
The recorded tram drives along an 8 kilometer track through a small valley that is surrounded by reverberant rock faces of various intensity.
The Library contains recordings from the driver´s seat, from several positions in the wagon, both with and without passengers. Also included are exterior recordings of squeaky approaches and pass-bys, couplings, doorbells, and door openings/closings.
Recorded in 192 kHz the material allows for extensive downsampling to generate versatile soundscapes far beyond the original. Please listen to Audio Demo No.2

"Polite 800" - Live Pack and Refill

„Polite 800“ introduces another famous eighties synthesizer: the Korg Poly 800, a classic hybrid synth that is equipped with digital controlled oscillators and a 24dB analog filter.

The Library contains 35 instruments which perfectly capture the spirit of this battery driven unit.
Both, the Live Pack and the Refill introduce a standardized control layout which is easy to familiarize with.
Nevertheless all controls and switches of the Live Racks and Refill Combinators are multi-connected to more than 20 parameters per instrument. So hot-swapping through the included Basses, Keys, Pads, Brasses and FX sounds is easy but invites for spontaneous in-depth tweaking at the same time.
