Germany's DJ bwin returns to First Second Label with a sub heavy offering of experimentational dubstep, bass, techno and trap for the dark smoke filled room in your brain. Moritz Paul aka Leibniz and Alex Hoppe aka CIO known for their label Hundert (alongside Felix Paul) have been pushing the boundaries of experimental bass, breaks, techno and dub and Cell Phone pushes their sound even further. Accompanied by a blissed out vibration filled remix from Berlin residing Cork born power house ELLLL this puts the icing on the cake for this already wobble heavy 12". The artwork, a combination of photography, paint and textiles is an extract from a cloth print by Irish artist and designer Shauna McGowan.

INTL.PDCOMP002 celebrates music’s boundlessness, sampling different flavours of dance music from around the world and fusing them together to form a cohesive whole. The eighth Pressure Dome compilation ties a common thread between hi-octane drum ‘n’ bass mutations and contemplative slow burners, capturing the sonic quality at Pressure Dome’s core as well as embodying our community ethos. Some faces familiar, and others soon-to-be; some hailing from as far afield as Melbourne and New York and others repping the other side of the pond in Switzerland and Ukraine, INTL.PDCOMP002 connects the dots, both between our international family members, and seemingly disparate corners of dance music. 

Some tracks are left to unfurl slowly, gently but assuredly taking up space amongst more high-energy club tools. On Azie, Ukrainian hardware fanatic Dubplanet X hones in on sound design, gradually introducing the complex soundscape’s every layer over a rhythm that cruises at 100BPM. DJ Durbin’s Defttime and Zara’s Zwer stay on the same tip: the former employing a tantalising melody evoking a windchime, and the latter comprising cavernous percussion and acid synths. On Broken Signs, Swiss newcomer Fels bolsters a dembow-inflected rhythm with a gnarly sub bass, whilst Rinse France resident Beatrice takes it to new extremes on Fortunately: a dubstep wobbler that harks back the genre’s golden age. 

Keeping on the hardcore continuum is Infinite Machine affiliate Design Default whose track Mecha Eden is a glitched-out d’n’b mutation that switches in and out of half-time. On the faster end of the spectrum, he is joined by Parisian producer Trois-Quarts Taxi System with the full-bodied dubwise steppa Sur le gouffre. And with our feet firmly planted on the dance floor, Elsa injects a healthy dose of playfulness into her propulsive techno iteration Left My Feelings, whilst Edinburgh’s LWS and NYC’s Tano embrace all things off-kilter. On Day 7, LWS deploys the mindfuck nature of Fever AM co-head honcho Rhyw’s music, whilst Tano’s Keep Your Distance harks more closely to Ploy with menacing vocal chops and an industrial sound palette.

‘Orange Slices’ coming from Everett marks the northern artist’s first-ever solo release linking up with Manchester-based label and party series Left, Right & Centre for the second time.

The five-track presentation of sound sees four original cuts sit aside a heavyweight remix from Bristol’s Bruce, for a late summer/early autumn smash hit release, leaning towards a wonky techno sound, purpose-built for peak time club night ferocity.

Everett has made his name slowly but surely as a cornerstone for quality in Manchester’s electronic underbelly, whether that be through his meticulous DJ sets, his radio presence throughout the years or his association with the inimitable The White Hotel.

Now permitted to spread his wings across the five-tracker, Everett’s time spent between the quiet recesses of Mancunian dances and honing his sound with deadly precision pays dividends. His attention to detail and ear for quality shines through on ‘Orange Slices’. Touching across the producer’s broad and deft tastes, the productions are a celebration of Everett’s infatuation with half-time DnB, slow-burning Techno and the newfangled styles of Ploy et al. Glitchy drums and unpredictably poised percussion cement Everett as one of Manchester’s most deadly and disruptive music makers you’ve never heard of.

Left, Right & Centre touch base with double figures on this EP with now 10 releases under their belt and a link up with Hessle Audio associate Bruce for the first time on a release, the label consistently focuses on a UK sound that places momentous raw energy at its core through their collaborative efforts in and outside the club and the city of Manchester.

2-step but updated with remarkably modern sound design. Elpac and Mulholland combine to burn twisted breaks within an all-consuming rave menace. Baitface provides us with a loving

A shapeshifter across strains of biologic club environs and tender sculptural soundscapes, this project finds Tristan Arp testing the elasticity of his own sonic blueprint through an exploration of varicolored intensity, mischief, and evolution.

Inspired by the sci-fi writings of Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower and Bo-Young Kim’s “An Evolutionary Myth,” the fluidity of free jazz innovator Ornette Coleman, and a fascination with alchemy, these four tracks are designed for freak-time club rapture.

What would it sound like if one could alchemize a self that is beyond the sum of all our parts. Would it make a sound? Would it have a shape? Would it have a body?

In a debut EP that transcends genre boundaries, Seta Loto guides us through the soundscapes of 'Earth-Related System’ forthcoming on the Lyon-based label Comic Sans. With a sophisticated fusion of minimal bass, atmospheric and UK-style techno, dub and dancehall, each of the five tracks develops its own ecosystem, distorted by alterations of reality as if on psychedelics.

Delving into the concept of a sound infrastructure, the artist lays its foundation in the earth as the primary element. An intangible low-end drifts over the surface of the sound, unceasingly creating an intense, enveloping atmosphere reminiscent of tectonic shifts. Above, organic textures manipulated by cutting-edge sound design techniques and clever re-sampling work neatly share the remaining sonic environment.

Seta Loto's creations resonate with a spiritual essence, evoking an intimate relationship with the wonders of nature and rootedness to the earth.

Ólta Karawane has come here to tell a story with no need for words. Using a unique style, this mix is built upon an ever-evolving narrative in a lysergic world where caustic post-punk vocals and dub sounds live in harmony. A frenetic tale that drives the listener up and down its many nuances by the means of a careful selection: the tracks are mainly connected by country of publication and period in time, for the vast majority was released in England in the early 90s.

What started as a friendship with a shared love for vodka became some years ago an intense music collaboration. Zhora, more of a sonic archaeologist than a musician, started playing disco and new wave in an erotic club in his early 20s, quickly discovering new paths towards punk and unorthodox music. Kolya’s great music taste was a perfect fit, and the duo joined forces behind the decks, shying away from bounds of any kind. Apart from numerous edits, the duo has recently released the Special Delivery Vol 5 in the I’m a Cliche sublabel, Edit Services. 

This project is, indeed, one that goes beyond the boundaries attached to modern DJing: rescuing music left aside by the most, Zhora and Kolya are able to express a non-conformist and ubiquitous message that sets them aside. But that’s exactly where they want to be.

This mix includes music from Gary Clail & On-U Sound System, a few Olta Karawane edits, Zion Train, Ashes of Portion Control, Adrian Sherwood, Bim Sherman, Andrew Weatherall and Keith LeBlanc.
