All of that dialogue is his. They CHOOSE to have the speech quirk, but drop it at times. Same with Crypt"E"d.

This guy shows up on occasion to tease the player, share knowledge about the GAME, foreshadow events within the chapter, etc.

FRIEND is the "Flowey" of DELTARUNE, if you couldn't tell.
His//THEIR name is NYCT, and they're a shard of Gaster.
Gaster experimented on them until they were quite similar to YOU, able to possess lightners in order to walk both the LW and DW.
(They show up in CH6 regardless of whether you fought CRYPT"E"D or not though.)

WHO KNOWS! They might even be possessing someone right now!

Nyct is very META. They'd make fun of the games mechanics a LOT in their dialogue, and are fully aware DELTARUNE IS just a game.
Not in a metaphoric way, or anything.
Just straight up.
Knowing everything's just a game really would mess with your immersion, now wouldn't it?

As for Friend's ROLE... well...
They'd show up HERE, and then again in the SB quest.
Then...
They appear near the end of CH6 and do something rather chaotic!
They survive CH6, and appear in CH7s final sequence on the shadowcrystal route.

Creatures shown are called "Hollows" and represent darkners of empty space.
They'd simply hover upside down, without animations.

The Vessel and EVERYMAN are the party members in the chapter.
Dess replaces Everyman for the final segment of the chapter.
A separate Rude Buster is used for when she is in the party.

The unique mechanics for each would be as such;
Gash would have an OMORI-esque emotion mechanic.
Joyful, Sorrowful, Rageful, Fearful, Neutral, and MANIC.
Joyful would have attacks sometimes be lucky, but lower defense slightly.
Sorrowful would lower attack and defense, but make the attack swiper go slower.
Rageful would make attacks do more damage, but lower defense drastically.
Fearful would highten defense drastically, but do the opposite for offense.
MANIC would combine the positive traits of each, and would slowly drain the TP meter. Could only be achieved using Max TP.

EVERYMAN would simply have a special move.
A grayed out (for the most part), Spell.
"GASTER BLASTER."
50% Chance to obliterate an enemy. Does not work on bosses.

After taking the Discards' souls, he achieves a PHOTOSHOP visage.
The fight would be nearly structurally identical to the Flowey Fight.
Although, the Discards don't help you out here.
You'd have to grey out the souls, instead of crying out for help.
Not everyone will heed such a call in life, I'm afraid.

In the fight, you're very powerless and out-of-your-depth.

In the MAIN segments, he'd be very similar to OMEGA FLOWEY, firing unfair attacks from every angle, and attacking the player mercilessly.

And in the interlude segments, you'd be attacked with bullets and images resembling fucked-up versions of UT characters.
He's jealous of ALL OF your adventures, after all.

For those who don't know, Nyct's lore as IMAGE_FRIEND, is that he's a shard of Gaster, warped to be something similar to YOU.
A parasite able to control a lightner host.
He was supposed to BE the PLAYER.

(So basically, FRIEND INSIDE ME, but utilised for it's player parallels.
In CH6, NYCT is purposefully possessing the ANNOYING DOG, to parallel how the Player's true form is a little red kitty.)

(He's kinda obsessed, huh?)

However, right before Nyct could be sent out onto the DELTARUNE adventure, Gaster replaced him with YOU, and left NYCT to rot, discarded in the depths.
Out of spite, NYCT discarded YOUR vessel, hoping it'd disconnect you from the game.
But it simply set you on an alternative path.
...
NYCT is aware that DELTARUNE is a game, by the by.
Which is what makes their lack of purpose so much more painful for them.
Lost in darkness, knowing everything is empty.
He hates you for taking his place.

He hates you so much that he chooses THIS body simply to mess with you.

It's his magnum opus, so to speak, in the essence that this is a chosen form.
Used entirely to mess with the players head.

It WOULD have a lot of imagery pointing out Nyct's bad mental state too.

Oh.
And GASH, too.
You might be safe behind your screen, perhaps even a little entertained.
But for Gash, this is very real.
Just how long can they take the stress...?

Komadino did a wonderful job.

Dess's lore is that upon sealing Crypt"E"D away, she went off to find the bunker.
To post it's horrors online, so that nobody would be hurt again.

Gaster silenced her.
He made sure her online presence was erased, and then dragged her into the bunker, never to be seen again by her loved ones.
He left her in darkness for months, before finally finding her, and torturing her until she forgot who she even was.
He bleached her hair, shocked her, sliced off her upper face.
Did anything possible that could break her.
Strip her of her identity.
...
Until she psychologically broke.
And he threw her out into the Nocturn, to deal with the monsters alone, left in her broken state.

When she tries to warn anybody about Gaster, her voice is ciphered against her will.
It happens when she tries to say OTHER things, too, but THAT one is the main reason.

" PLEASE KEEP ALL OF THIS BETWEEN US " is this inspiration for this.

But despite everything... she is still kind.
Still loving, bright, and full of an inner passion for song.

Can you bring her back from the dark?
