The 41st release of katharsis is the EP “swansong” by jhl coming out on May 3rd. The New Zealand-based artist portray a dark and dramatic world of love and pain in this five-track release, drawing inspiration from poetry, opera, and fantasy worldbuilding. The result is both endearing and epic with its glittering synths, grandiose sound design, and poignant orchestral elements. jhl’s vocals carry big emotions through all five songs, as the lyrics are characterized by heartbreak and despair though still full of hope and love.
