Yaman Arts Foundation proudly presents a Tabla Ensemble by students of Pt. Aditya Narayan Banerjee followed by "Krishnavandana", a Hindustani Vocal Music concert by Shri Suhas Joshi and Smt. Devika Thakkar (both senior disciples of Pta. Tripti Mukherjee of Mewati Gharana). They will be accompanied by Andrew Shantz on Harmonium and Pt. Aditya Narayan Banerjee on Tabla.

Shopno Dekhbo Bole

Devika is a disciple of Pta. Tripti Mukherjee, Pt. Askaran Sharma, Pt. Vinayak Kunte, and a grand disciple of Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj. A gifted vocalist, known for her soulful renditions, Devika performs in concerts and collaborates with musicians on live and recorded projects. She specializes in singing Sanskrit Chants and is drawn to this genre because of the meaningful lyrics of Sanskrit verses and the peaceful vibrations created by chanting them. 

Originally from Mumbai, India, Devika now lives in New York, USA with her husband and two children. Devika has taught music to children and adults in the USA and in India. She continues to learn the sacred art of Indian classical music from various world-renowned artists and music educators at the Pandit Jasraj Institute for Music Research, Artistry, and Appreciation, the Mewati Gurukul, an international institution that provides instruction in north Indian classical vocal music.

Devika believes in the potential of the classical arts to spark self-discovery and create harmony within oneself, with everyone around, and in the world.
