Los Angeles-based new wave band, Coto and the Plagues, were initially forged over a shared love of classic horror films. Dev Horch (synthesizer) & Fritz Zar (drums) have been close friends since their youth, drawing creative inspiration from Zar’s father, Chet, a revered artist integral to the evolution of special effects in horror films. The duo crossed paths with experimental bassist, Coto Loco, in 2006, and immediately connected through each of their niche and unconventional interests. Overlapping each of their unique artistic perspectives, the band’s eleven track debut, Coto and the Plagues, crosses their influences between a moody ‘80s synthwave foundation, and quintessential horror soundtrack composers like John Carpenter.
