The other day I went searching for a speaker connector to connect my 1x12 cab to my Spark practice amp. I did not find it, however what I did find in the very depths of a box was a load of old practice tapes from various bands I have done over the years.

In amongst them was this one tape which I believed long lost, it was from Sun to Fear which I formed with a friend somewhere in the mid to late 90's, we had a few practice tapes round the time but this one was done in a small independant studio while we were attempting to record our "Carnival of Souls ep" somewhere round 1997/8 and on it was a version of "Lillies At A Grave" which had a very different sound to the one we usually did due to Pete not using his own keyboard, we also found what we thought was a nice effect which we put on the vocals.

While this was only a one off I always quite liked the outcome and wished we had the time to of fleshed it out a bit more as I always thought it was a bit high pitched.

Anyway, so here it is;

The Victim of Fate (VoF) is a solo project spanning about 43 or so years, originally used as a way to sign my artwork  in school back in the early 80's it has since expanded into various projects and interests I have held over the years from short storys/poems, pen & ink and computer generated artwork and obviously music.

Over the years I have been involved with various bands (and incarnations of the same bands, due to lineup changes etc) and while most rarely saw the light of day with the exception of "Turnstyle Life" and "Sun to Fear" (the later supported the Damned & the Stranglers in 1999), most were punk/alternative bands where as Sun to Fear went more towards electronic/gothic/industrial mainly due to Pete and my interests.

VoF was always my refuge so to speak, where I could just create music without the reliance on others (which always used to annoy me) and while I try not to classify or pigeon hole my music it does tend to fall into various categories mainly Gothic/Darkwave/Industrial/Neoclassicism/EBM. However unlike all previous bands I do not write lyrics or do vocals on most of the things I create these days (not entirely through choice more due to circumstances) so I tend to make up for it with samples from films etc.
