Switch is an improvised performance recorded directly to a 2-track tape. It is based on sequences of patterns that gradually shift over time, each one playing different sounds–some simple, others complex. I used a typical range of electronic waveforms such as sine and square waves, as well as tambourine samples. All these sounds are then manipulated over time with filters and delays. For the organization of the patterns I created “mini-sequencers” which, albeit being synchronized (with Max, pre-Ableton), each one was independent in length, so organic poly-rhythms would be created a la Eno.
